Chapter 230
Wallace nodded, a pleased smile gracing his face.
"Yolanda, you trust me, and I won't let you down. You'll get much more than this in the future."
Yolanda's face lit up with joy at Wallace's grand promise, though she quickly tempered her expression.
Just then, her phone rang. She pulled it out and saw it was an unknown number. She declined the call.
Less than three seconds later, it rang again.
Annoyed, Yolanda said to Wallace, “Dad, I'm going to step out to take this call.”
"Go ahead," Wallace nodded.
Yolanda walked out of the room and answered the phone, about to snap at the caller, but a voice spoke first. "Yolanda, if you want your son and daughter to live, you won't sign that contract."
"What did you say?" Yolanda froze. “Who is this? How do you know about the contract?"
"Shh, quiet down. Don't make a scene. I have your son and daughter. Think carefully. And if you tell Wallace about this, your children will be dead before you can blink."
The line went dead. Yolanda frantically shouted into the phone, but there was no response.
She tried to reassure herself that it was just a sick prank. But then, a call came from her housekeeper. Her heart plummeted.
Yolanda swallowed hard, her hand trembling as she answered.
"Ma'am, it's terrible! The young master and young miss... they've gone missing on their way to school!"
Yolanda's body went rigid. The phone slipped from her hand, clattering loudly on the floor.
"Yolanda, what's wrong?" Wallace called from inside the study.
Her mind was consumed by thoughts of her children. Ignoring Wallace, she bent down, snatched her phone, and bolted from the Lambert family estate.
She ran, frantically trying to call the unknown number back, but it wouldn't connect. She rushed past Renata, who was holding Jaden, without even a glance.
Renata watched her frantic retreat, her fingers gently patting the baby in her arms. A close look would have revealed a flicker of nervousness and confusion in her eyes.
Halfway down the drive, Yolanda suddenly remembered that she had already signed the contract. Panicked, she turned and ran back. But by the time she got back to the study, Wallace was gone.
She grabbed a nearby maid. "Where's my father? Where did he go?"
"He went out."
Yolanda immediately spun around and chased after him, but by the time she reached the gate, Wallace's car was just views ppearing i Her legs gave out, and she collapsed to the ground.
"It's over... It's all over."
Renata approached with Jaden in her arms, her expression worried. "Yolanda, what happened?"
Yolanda looked up at her, tears
streaming down her face. She
opened her mouth, but no words
came out. She just sat there on the

Forcing herself to calm down, Yolanda dialed Wallace's number. The moment he answered, she burst into tears. “Dad, don't sign the contract! Please, come back..."
"Why?"

Yolanda's voice was choked with sobs. She was about to blurt out the truth, but the kidnapper's warning stopped her. "There's... there's a problem with it," she stammered Bring it back and let me look at it again."
“I've already looked it over. There are no problems. Yolanda, remember what I told
you. Once you've made a decision, don't second-guess it."
Without another word, Wallace hung up.
"Dad!!"
