Chapter 252

It was a blunt question; Reuben was in no mood for games. Anyone with a brain knew Renata lacked both the motive and the guts to pull this off alone. Someone had to be pulling the strings.

Clifford glanced at him and let out a small, humorless laugh. "Are you asking that question just so I can sue you for slander?"

Reuben was struck silent.

At that moment, Yolanda's mother, Jolene, lunged forward, grabbing Renata by the hair and viciously yanking and slapping her. “You bitch! Give me back my daughter!"

"Ah-!" Renata screamed as pain shot through her scalp, trying to claw at the woman.

"You worthless bitch! You're just like your mother, a damn whore! What did my daughter ever do to you that you'd be so cruel? You venomous monster, I'll kill you!"

At the insult, Polly shot to her feet. "Jolene! You watch your mouth! You don't get to run wild in my house! Get her out of here!"

Several maids rushed forward to pull Jolene and Renata apart. Jolene's eyes were wild with hatred, as if she wanted to tear Renata to pieces. "You're all monsters!" she shrieked. “You do this to my daughter, and I'll give up my own life to drag you all down with me! I'll get justice for my poor girl! None of you will get away with this!" Polly's chest heaved with rage and a flicker of fear. "She's insane! Throw her out!"

"Wallace! Polly! You'll both rot in hell!" Jolene's voice echoed from a distance as she was dragged out. "You reap what you sow! A day of reckoning will come for you all!"

The chilling curses hung in the air. Polly's face was ashen as she looked to Clifford for help.

Santino, sitting to the side, wasn't smiling, but his eyes held the distinct glimmer of someone enjoying a good show.

Reuben, however, remained composed. He addressed Clifford directly. "The evidence is here, and So are the witnesses. What do you. propose we do about this?"

Clifford stared at him for a long moment before speaking. "Are you asking for my opinion?"

Reuben frowned. Clifford's calm demeanor suggested he already had a contingency plan.

"Fine. In that case, we'll let the law handle it. There's nothing more to discuss." Tired of the charade, Reuben held up his voice recorder, clearly recording again!'ll leav these three with you for noworm caffing the police as soon as I walk out of this house."

With that, he turned and left.

Renata gasped and started to follow, but Clifford grabbed her arm. She looked at

him, her voice trembling. "Clifford..."

“Don't bother. You think he came here for an explanation?"

Renata's eyes widened. "Then why...?"

"Didn't you see the recorder in his hand? He was here for more evidence."

That Reuben, Clifford thought, had quite the appetite. He wanted to take down the entire Lambert family in one fell swoop.

Renata staggered back, staring at Clifford before turning her gaze mechanically toward Santino. These were the two men she trusted most in the world which one of them had sold her out? "What... what do we do now?" she whispered.

Polly snapped, "Renata, what were you thinking? Why would you do something like this?"

She couldn't believe her own daughter had the audacity to frame her father. Polly had never imagined she could be so bold.
