Chapter 277
The shareholders exchanged glances, unsure how to react.
Wallace continued, "I can personally vouch for Greyson's abilities. Since its inception, the overseas division has operated flawlessly under his management. He is more than qualified to serve as CEO. Now, all in favor of him taking the CEO position, please raise your hands."
Wallace raised his own hand, and a few others followed suit. But it was a sparse showing only two or three people. The majority were still hesitating.
The cameras were focused on the assembly, and the projector cast a glow on the table in the dim conference room, illuminating the varied expressions on everyone's faces.
"What's this? Are there objections? If you have something to say, feel free to speak up."
The white-haired shareholder spoke again. "Shouldn't we wait for Mr. Clifford Lambert? He is a shareholder, after all."
Wallace shot him a look. "The meeting is already this far along and he's still a no- show. Do you really think he's coming? Are you all refusing to vote simply because he isn't here? You are shareholders, not someone's subordinates! Do you need another's permission to express your own opinions?"
Wallace's forceful voice thundered through the conference room, laced with anger. He was genuinely furious. He couldn't believe so many people were siding with Clifford, showing him, the chairman, such disrespect. It only confirmed that his decision was the right one, especially after what Renata had done. He no longer had any trust in those two siblings.
His outburst sent a ripple of whispers through the room. It was clear to everyone
that Wallace was angry.
"Any more objections?"
Wallace's gaze was sharp and intimidating, making it clear that no one was leaving until they had made their position known.
Under his pressure, a few more people slowly raised their hands. Now the vote was six to six. All it would take was one more person for the matter to be settled.
Wallace turned his gaze to a man sitting diagonally across from him—a balding, portly man who, despite his appearance, seemed amiable enough. The man met his stare and gave a weak, awkward smile before slowly raising his hand.
Greyson looked at the people around him, a look of triumph in his eyes. This was going even more smoothly than he could have imagined.
The few who hadn't raised their hands looked on anxiously, trying to warn the portly man with their eyes but he still chose to side with Wallace. He figured Clifford wasn't coming back. And if that was the
case, why make an enemy of the
chairman and Ca
trouble for
himself?
Just as the man's hand went up, the conference room doors swung open. Every
head in the room turned.
Clifford stood in the doorway,
dressed in a sharp black suit. His expression was cold as frost, his gaze sweeping across the room, and an incrediate silence fell over the assembly. He strode into the room, a faint smirk playing on his tips. Cóntent
"I haven't even arrived and you're all so eager to vote. What is this, an election for a
new vice president?"

table but didn't sit. Instead, he kicked the chair aside, leaned forward with both hands on the tabletop, and looked down on them all His casual demeanor radiated an overwhelming sense of pressure.
Wallace frowned. "You're late for a shareholder meeting of this importance. Do you still think you're fit for this position?"
Clifford turned to him. "The meeting was scheduled for nine-thirty. It's only nine now. Am I late?"
"But the rest of us are all here. Are we supposed to wait for you alone?"
