Chapter 279

"I'd like to see who dares!" Wallace roared, his furious gaze sweeping over everyone present.

They all glanced between him and Clifford, but Wallace's outburst felt more like a desperate, final struggle.

After Clifford cast his vote, the elderly, white-haired man who had spoken earlier raised his hand without a moment's hesitation. Then, one by one, others followed.

Clifford had laid his shares on the table. It was obvious who now held the power in this company.

Aside from Clifford's staunch supporters, the rest were merely fence-sitters. Seeing the tide turn, they too raised their hands.

Twelve to one. The single dissenting vote was Wallace himself.

Wallace stood frozen, a look of utter disbelief on his face. He couldn't believe he had just been kicked off the board.

Clifford smiled faintly. "Chairman..... no, I mean, Dad. The result is clear. At your age, you should be at home enjoying your retirement. You don't need to worry about company matters anymore."

Wallace stared at him, his eyes filled with a murderous rage.

Clifford then turned his attention to Greyson. "Dad, you mentioned earlier that you intended to transfer your shares to this Mr. Lambert. I think that's an excellent idea. It seems you've long been prepared to leave the board, Dad. In that case, there's no time like the present. Let's handle the share transfer today."

"Nonsense! Who said I was giving them to him!"

Someone interjected, "You said it yourself just a moment ago. It's on video. Wallace, you were once chairman. Surely you wouldn't go back on your word?"

The remark left Wallace speechless. His original plan was simply to get Greyson onto the board. But now, with Clifford in control, if Greyson joined and the international division was merged, Clifford would reap all the benefits. He would solve the company's crisis without lifting a finger and swallow the Lambert Group's international division whole.

What a brilliant scheme.

"I don't agree. I said I would transfer my shares if Greyson became CEO..."

Clifford cut him off. "Of course, that's no problem at all. Mr. Lambert can have the CEO position."

Wallace suddenly fell silent. He collapsed into his chair, the reality finally sinking in. His time was over. It was finished.

Back at the villa, several electronics experts Ziven had called were

gathered, studying the metal ring on Latisha's ankle, but they weren't making much progress.

"Well? Can you get it off?" Fabian asked from the side.

Fabian was also one of Clifford's men. Latisha had seen him a couple of times, but unlike Ziven, she didn't know what he did or what his position was. He rarely appeared with Clifford, was her first sot real interaction with him.

"This material is unusual. Standard tools can't get through it."

"What about using a chemical solvent to corrode it?"

The expert shook his head. "We tried. It's not metal, nor does it seem to be a composite material. If we could analyze a sample we might be able to figure out what it is and how to remove it."

Fabian looked troubled. They had been at this for a full day. If they couldn't get it off soon, he'd have nothing to report.

"Let me see." Fabian knelt and examined the ring on Latisha's ankle. He turned to the experts. "The screen is electronic, right? Can you destroy it?"
