Chapter 328

Meeting his indifferent gaze, Latisha lowered her eyes. She stood up, intending to put the box away, but a long-fingered hand shot out and grabbed it first.

Latisha froze. Before she could react, he snatched the box from her and tossed it aside. It clattered to the floor, spilling the paper scraps everywhere. A gust of wind blew in, scattering the torn pieces across the room.

Latisha stared at the mess, her mind a complete blank. She didn't know how to react.

Instinctively, she moved to pick up the pieces, but Clifford grabbed her wrist, yanking her back. She could see the fury dancing in his eyes.

"Is being by my side really so painful for you?" he snarled, his anger flaring as he looked into her tear-filled eyes. "You want a divorce, is that it?"

Latisha's whole body trembled. She stared at him, stunned.

"Fine," he spat. "I'll grant you your wish. Go fly your kites and ride your hot air balloons. Go do whatever you want!"

He violently shoved her away and stormed upstairs without a backward glance.

Latisha stood there in a daze. She didn't understand why Clifford had suddenly exploded with such rage, or why he was now the one willing to grant her a divorce.

A sharp pain shot through her head. She clutched her temples and slowly crumpled to the ground. It felt like a thousand needles were piercing her brain, ready to make it explode. The pain was worse than ever before.

Overwhelmed, she collapsed onto the cold floor, pressing her forehead against the tiles, hoping the chill would numb the agony in her head.

Upstairs, Clifford was on the phone, his face grim.

"I have to say, Clifford, you're losing your composure," Santino's voice drawled through the phone. "Giving up those deals for a woman... that's not your style.”

"Santino, if you're just calling to gloat, you can hang up."

"In any case, you have no one to blame but yourself for being so angry. Greyson set up that whole situation to keep you from partnering with them, and you walked right into it."

"If you break off your contracts with them, Greyson will gradually bring in his own people to partner with Lambert Group. Hell kick out all your associates, and you, the chairman, might just end up like your father.”

"The good news is, they don't know the true state of Lambert Group, nor do they know your real relationship with Greyson. They still think

on the same side. Your handling of Mr. Wingard had a certain

intimidating om e

them hesitate. So there still a

chance. As long as you stabilize things with those men before

Greyson can do any more damage,

you should be fine."

Clifford sneered. "If all you have to offer is hindsight, I'm starting to think partnering with you was a mistake. Perhaps just killing you would be more useful.”

"Don't be so hasty. My injury hasn't healed yet. You have to let me recover before I can get to work, don't you?"

"Your leg is broken. Are your mouth and hands broken too?"

"Hahaha, Clifford, you're in a bad mood right now. We'll talk when you've calmed down."

Santino hung up.

Clifford tossed his phone onto the desk and walked out of the study. As he passed the bedroom, he glanced inside and saw a suitcase on the floor Latisha was packing her C clothes, folding them neatly and

placing them inside. When the

suitcase was too full, she knelt on it,

trying to press it shut.

Clifford stood in the doorway, watching her actions, a vein throbbing in his forehead.
