Chapter 334

It was so early... was he typing a message to her?

She held her breath, waiting. But nothing came through.

Two minutes later, the "typing..." indicator vanished, reverting back to his name in silent mockery.

Just as she let out a shaky sigh, the text shifted again.

*Clifford Lambert is typing...*

Latisha's eyes darkened. What was he doing? Was he not messaging her, but actually chatting with someone else and accidentally opening their thread?

A moment later, it went back to his name.

Two minutes passed. *Typing...*

Latisha finally sighed. Her fingers hovered over the keyboard before she couldn't hold back anymore: *Are you typing something?*

The indicator vanished immediately, stopping dead the exact second she sent her message, as if someone had hit a pause button.

Latisha typed another question: *Are you telling me to come sign the divorce papers?*

As soon as she hit send, a glaring red exclamation mark appeared next to her text!

Latisha froze. She stared in sheer disbelief at the red symbol, her eyes dropping to the small grey text beneath it: *Message Not Delivered. You are no longer in this user's contacts.*

He... he blocked her?

Heart pounding, she sent a single question mark just to be sure.

Another red exclamation mark. Another notification.

It was true. Clifford had deleted her.

Latisha stood in the middle of the small room, utterly lost. She had no idea how to react. Out of all the things she had expected, being completely erased from his phone wasn't one of them.

Did he really despise her that much?

Not only had he practically forbidden her from taking her clothes, but now he had severed their last line of digital connection.

Looking back at that profile picture, she suddenly found it sickeningly ironic.

It was just an old photo. He was probably just too lazy to change it. It didn't mean anything.

People change.

Just like how he used to only reserve his smiles for her, but now showered Yesenia Winslet with that same intoxicating affection.

Latisha's eyelashes fluttered. She locked her phone, walked out of the dorm, and stepped out into the open courtyard.

Sean was already up, tossing kibble to the dogs. The pack of rescues bounded excitedly across the large yard, their happy barks echoing in the crisp morning air.

Mortimer had joined in on the feeding, laughing and playing with the dogs in genuine delight.

It was such a vibrant, joyous scene. It was exactly the kind of free, unburdened life she had always longed for. Yet standing on the balcony, looking down at the animals and the unfamiliar surroundings...

All she could see in her mind was that glaring red exclamation mark.

The hollow, creeping sense of isolation within her was only magnified by this strange place.

She felt more alienated from the world than ever.

Mortimer glanced back and spotted her. Hugging a bag of dog food, he waved excitedly. "Latisha, you're up! Come on down!"

Latisha pressed her lips into a thin line and slowly descended the stairs.

Mortimer set the food down and gently grabbed her wrist, leading her toward a

dedicated whelping room. He pointed at the cozy setup inside.

"Look, these are the husky mixes!

told you about! I was so worried

about who the father might be,

seeing their coats, I'm pretty

Debut

relieved. At least they re, all the same

breed."

Looking at the tiny, squirming puppies whose eyes hadn't even opened yet, Latisha couldn't help but smile.

But she quickly turned to Mortimer and signed: *I need to go back to work.*

"Huh? You have a job? I totally thought you were still in college. Where do you work?"

Latisha: *Lambert Group.*

Mortimer frowned slightly. Though he was full of questions, he swallowed them down Alright then. It's a pretty far drive to the corporate headquarters from here. Let me give you a ride."

Logically, she knew she shouldn't go back to work.

But she... she needed to know. She wanted to ask Clifford straight to his face why

he had blocked her.

He hadn't given her a clear answer about the divorce, and now he was cutting her off completely. She simply couldn't understand what this man was trying to achieve.
