Chapter 200
Chapter 200:
The source of my happiness was gone. Thanks to Damon.
Frustrated and dejected, I slumped against the kitchen countertop, burying my head in my palm and weeping uncontrollably.
I was never going to see him again. I would never feel his gentle kicks or movements. I missed the rhythm of his heartbeat whenever I went for a scan. I missed him so much. As much as I wanted him, I knew I had to accept the painful reality.
I had a miscarriage.
I hated myself for losing my baby. Despite Dax and Devin trying to console me, I couldn’t stop blaming myself for what happened. The harsh weather, coupled with starvation and neglect, had taken him from me.
I hated myself. I wanted to punish myself, to feel the pain he must have felt.
With my hands pressed tightly over my mouth, I pulled at my hair, feeling strands fall out as I did. The pain brought on a terrible headache, but I didn’t stop. I walked over to the cabinet, grabbing a sharp knife and cutting into my skin.
But I wasn’t satisfied. I needed more pain.
I picked up a fork and stabbed my injured hand, feeling the blood pour out. I wasn’t concerned. To avoid raising any suspicion, I placed my hand in the sink, letting the blood flow freely.
A sharp pain shot through my hand and up to my brain. My strength began to fade, and my knees wobbled beneath me. I pressed my hand tightly against my mouth, not wanting to make a sound and draw the guys’ attention. I didn’t want them to worry.
“Aurora!” Dax yelled when he saw me.

He rushed to my side, quickly taking the sharp objects from my hand and washing the blood away.
“It was an accident,” I murmured weakly, hoping that was enough to convince him.
“Be careful, Aurora. Next time, call me if you need help so you don’t hurt yourself!” he scolded gently.
“Have you been crying?” he asked in surprise, pulling my face closer to his to get a better look.
“No,” I replied, pulling away from his grip as shuddering sparks ran wildly through me. I hated the effect his closeness had on me.
My forehead creased in confusion as I noticed something strange: his presence seemed to heal my wound rapidly.
That could only mean one thing. Was he my mate?
Aurora
“Are you alright, Aurora?” he asked, his voice laced with concern as his hazel eyes locked onto my silver ones.
Panic overtook me as my gaze remained fixed on my arm.
The speed at which it healed was nothing short of a miracle. The open wound was barely visible as the tissues fused back together.
As if that wasn’t enough, a strange surge of energy filled me, erasing every trace of weakness from my body. My legs felt stronger, steadier.
