Chapter 298
Chapter 298:
With shaky hands, I pulled out the camera Alex had given me the night before, rubbing my finger over the screen to wipe off the dust before gripping it tightly. If it weren’t for her duties, she would have been here with me. But the camera was a good idea—I couldn’t have been more grateful.
Quietly shutting the door behind me, I tiptoed toward the hallway, peeking at the path leading to Rosa’s room.
A surge of anger ignited within me as I watched Ray stride into Rosa’s room with unwavering confidence.
Suspicion brewed in my mind at the way he completely ignored the plethora of guards, yelling at Rosa for not opening the door quickly enough.
Switching on the camera, I pressed my back against the pillar that merged with the wall, stretching my hands slightly to capture the moment.
Through the screen, I saw Rosa dismiss the guards while Ray shamelessly undressed her with his eyes. The almost translucent satin robe draped loosely over her shoulder, revealing just enough to make his intentions clear.
That was strange.
Curiosity got the best of me as a whirlwind of thoughts raced through my mind.
Were Ray and Rosa having an affair?
Why did he feel entitled to enter her room?
Why was he speaking to her in such an authoritative tone?
Why did she dismiss the guards?

Did that mean Ray and Rosa were working together?
My brows furrowed as I tried to connect the dots. If they were truly in cahoots, did that imply Rosa had played a role in my banishment?
What if I was just making baseless assumptions?
But what business would a gardener and a mistress have together?
I wished I could march up to them and force the truth from their lips, but that was impossible.
Damn it!
I stretched my hand further, trying to capture them before the door closed. But luck abandoned me the moment Ray started noticing the camera flash.
Alarmed by the attention I had drawn, I quickly withdrew my hands and shoved the camera into my pocket.
My nervousness consumed me, my moist palms growing shaky. Before I could steady myself, the camera slipped from my grasp, crashing onto the ground with a loud shattering noise.
The sound instantly caught Ray’s attention. He left Rosa’s side and strode toward the pillar where I was hiding.
My heart pounded violently against my chest as I held my breath, watching him scan the hallway just inches from my hiding spot.
Afraid to give myself away, I clasped my hands over my mouth to muffle my shaky breaths.
Luckily for me, he didn’t spot me. After confirming that he had abandoned his search and returned to Rosa’s room, I hurriedly dashed into mine.
