Chapter 590
Reese was utterly confused and was just about to ask her dad what was going on when there was a commotion at the door.
Everyone turned to look. Kay and Fay walked in, one after the other.
Kay was Reese's aunt by name, while Fay was her best friend and also her maid of honor-so of course, both were expected at tonight's family dinner.
They came forward to say hello, and the Garcia family greeted them with polite nods.
Fay glanced around, clearly wanting to ask something but too shy to do it in front of so many people. She shot a look at Kay instead.
Kay caught her gaze and nodded, stepping forward. "Reese, where's your brother? Haven't seen him yet."
Reese shrugged, grinning. "That's exactly what I was about to ask Dad."
Scott raised an eyebrow at the two of them. "Well, it looks like Lester's keeping all
of us in the dark-he's waiting for his girlfriend."
"Girlfriend?" Reese was surprised.
She barely had time to ask who it was when Lester's voice came from the doorway.
"Yep. Girlfriend. Mine."
Lester stood tall and sharp in a suit, reaching out his hand to someone just outside the door.
A delicate, pale hand slipped into his. He held it tightly and led her in.
Everyone's expressions shifted as they saw who it was-especially the Garcia family.
No one could've imagined Sylvia, the very woman they'd once driven out, would show up at such an important family dinner.
Lester led Sylvia right up to Scott.
"Dad, this is my girlfriend, Sylvia."
Sylvia greeted him politely. "Hello, Mr. Sanford. It's an honor to finally meet you."
Scott looked Sylvia up and down, a flicker of surprise in his eyes.
Over the years, plenty of relatives had tried to set Lester up with women-some as stunning as Sylvia, maybe even prettier.
But Lester never paid any of them the slightest attention.
Yet here he was, bringing this woman home as soon as they started dating.
At first glance, Sylvia was the kind of woman you'd think could get by on her looks
alone. But if you looked closer, her clear, honest eyes told a different story.
Scott smiled. "Ms. Lloyd, I should be the one saying it's an honor."
Sylvia paused, a little confused.
“Lester's mentioned you a few times. Seeing you in person—well, you're definitely one of a kind."
Scott gave Lester's shoulder an approving pat.
Hearing the acceptance, Sylvia relaxed just a little and glanced at Lester.
He leaned in and murmured, "Told you. My dad's not so scary." Find the newest release on FіndNovel.net
She managed a genuine smile.
But just then, a cold, sharp look from across the table made her smile falter. She forced herself to keep smiling, but it felt strained, her heart pounding so hard it hurt.
Thankfully, Reese walked over at that moment.
"So you two got together and didn't even tell me? That's not fair!"
Lester grinned, fingers still laced with Sylvia's. "You've been busy
planning your wedding with Mel
Rupert. When would you have time to keep tabs on your big brother?" s
Reese laughed, wrapping an arm around the man beside her and leaning in. "Please, the wedding all MP. Rupert's doing he's worried about me getting too exhausted." s
Sylvia glanced up, just in time to meet the man's deep, dark eyes.
The crystal chandelier above sparkled, sending shimmering light across the room, making everything feel dreamlike like the person in front of her was flickering between near and far. s
Just like their past, which now seemed almost unreal.
Sylvia shook off her worries, smiled at him, then turned her attention to the man beside her.
He was warm, funny-and most importantly, he was the one who'd taken her hand and walked with her into the sunlight.
