Chapter 909
Connor's friends were all standing nearby, watching them expectantly. Connor swept a cool glance over the group and ordered, "What are you staring at? Say hi to the
boss's lady."
"Good evening, ma'am!"
The synchronized shout caught Leonie completely off guard. She wanted to dive back into his chest and hide, but Connor refused to let her retreat.
He held tightly onto Leonie's hand. Ever since stepping out of the car, her face had been flushed as red as a ripe tomato.
Leonie playfully swatted at his arm.
"Alright, that's enough. If you keep this up, I'm actually going to get mad."
She couldn't even tell if she was happy or furious. After shooing his rowdy friends away, Connor pulled Leonie back into the quiet sanctuary of the car.
He parked the car by the side of the road, watching the sunset slowly fade over the horizon.
"You know how I feel about you. I brought you here to prove a point. I'm willing to claim you in front of everyone. Are you finally satisfied?"
Leonie stared at him, her lips parting slightly. "What are you talking about?"
Connor met her gaze. "Isn't it obvious? You were icing me out because you felt I didn't respect you enough. Now I've made it completely public. From now on, you're my girl."
The color visibly drained from Leonie's face as the realization set in. She finally understood exactly why Connor had put on such an elaborate show.
A deep sense of disappointment washed over her as she looked at him.
"Are you actually trying to win me over, or are you just competing with Dorian? Do you think I'm some sort of trophy? You only feel validated when you're fighting someone else for me."
"You don't even like me, and you never really wanted me to be your girlfriend. You only did this because your ego couldn't handle the thought of losing to Dorian, isn't that right?"
Remembering how passionately he had just kissed her in front of everyone, Leonie violently wiped her mouth with the back of her hand, suddenly feeling deeply nauseated She couldn't believe she had ever been blind enough to fall for him.
Connor looked like he was ready to bash his head against the steering wheel. Seeing her twist his grand gesture into an insult made him want to scream.
"Leonie, that's enough! I have never put this much effort into a girl in my entire life. I am genuinely trying to date you, and I gave you exactly what you wanted. What more do you want from me?"
"Everyone knows we're together now. They all accept you. You're my girl. So are you finally going to cut ties with that pretty boy, or are you going to keep stringing him along?"
Furious, Leonie held up a hand to cut him off.
"That's enough. I know exactly what you're doing. You just want me to stop seeing Dorian. But that is my life, Connor We aren'téven officially, together, and even if we were, you have absolutely zero right to dictate who I can be friends with."
"Even married people get divorced. I am not abandoning Dorian. He treats me with actual respect, unlike you You are arrogant, controlling,
and you never care about anyoneer
feelings but your own."
"I'm going to say this one last time: my relationship with Dorian is completely platonic. Stop making it something dirty. And for the record, I never want to see you again."
Without another word, Leonie threw the car door open and jumped out. She pulled out her phone and immediately requested an Uber.
This time, Connor didn't chase after her; he just gripped the steering wheel, his knuckles turning white as he glared at her back.
If Leonie was going to throw his genuine effort back in his face and run off to some kept man, why should he bother debasing himself any further?
