Chapter 917

"Felicia, you and Dorian are completely finished."

Leonie's tone was ice-cold. She hadn't forgotten that Dorian was nearly beaten to death. Seeing this woman show up now with fake sympathy sickened her. Leonie wasn't afraid of anyone, let alone some street-level mob boss. She wasn't about to give her an ounce of respect.

Felicia's eyes narrowed. Leonie's blatant arrogance struck a nerve, but what truly fueled the older woman's hatred was that this girl had stolen her favorite possession. A deep, venomous grudge took root in Felicia's chest.

"Don't misunderstand. I'm not here to steal your boyfriend. I just came to check on him. After all, we were together for years. When I heard he was hurt, I came as fast as I could. I was out of the country recently, so I didn't know what had happened. Dorian, I'm truly sorry I wasn't here to help you sooner."

With a polished smile, Felicia pulled a thick stack of cash from her designer bag and placed it on the nightstand.

"Consider this a loan. Buy yourself something nice. Focus on your recovery."

Before Dorian could even react, Leonie snatched the cash and threw it right back at Felicia.

"Take your money and get out. We don't need it. I don't care who you are. Dorian already made it clear he's done with you. Stop harassing him."

Dorian tried to stop Leonie, but it was too late. Beneath the blankets, his hands began to shake uncontrollably. Felicia swallowed the humiliation of being treated like garbage by a twenty-something girl. Her expression remained neutral, but internally, she was burning with absolute rage.

Having survived by Felicia's side for years, Dorian could read the terrifying shifts in her mood.

Despite Leonie's hostile attitude, Felicia maintained a serene smile.

"My apologies. I clearly came at a bad time. I'll leave him in your capable hands. Let him know he should rest up. Sully won't be bothering him anymore."

Felicia turned on her heel and walked out. Leonie glared at her retreating back, slamming the hospital door shut with a sharp crack.

Dorian was already drenched in a cold sweat. Assuming the room was just stuffy, Leonie asked if she should lower the thermostat.

Once Felicia was fully gone, Dorian let out a bitter, terrified laugh. "You shouldn't have spoken to her like that. She isn't some normal woman you can just brush off." Leonie scoffed, entirely unbothered. She looked at Dorian with absolute confidence.

"Stop panicking over nothing. So what if she's not normal? The Everhart family isn't exactly normal either. If she dares to lay a finger on you, Hawthorne will destroy her."

Dorian's hands were still trembling. "But Hawthorne already left, didn't he? And he's going to be gone for months. If Felicia decides to make a move en nie how, your uncle is too far away to do a damn thing."

Reality finally cracked Leonie's confidence. Her bravado faded, realizing she had

just declared war on a mob boss without her primary protector. Looking at Dorian, she asked quietly, "Then... what do we do?"

He forced a bleak smile. "Take it one day at a time. You've already insulted her. There's no going back now."

For the next week, Leonie was a nervous wreck. She shadowed Dorian retentlessly. Terrified that he would be attacked in the middle of

the night, she even asked Layne four bodyguards to stand watch outside the room 24/7.

The hospital hallways were heavily monitored. Leonie checked the feeds

obsessively, but no suspicious figures appeared. After a week of total silence, she finally let her guard down.

Dorian's body was healing. His broken bones were knitting back together, and he was finally able to get out of bed and walk. Seeing the bodyguards guarding him around the clock he knew it was all Leonie's

doing. A deep sense of gratitude

swelled in his chest.

Felicia had given him a luxurious lifestyle, but Leonie had actually saved his life.

He decided right then that his future was permanently tied to this girl.

As Dorian's condition stabilized, Leonie's suffocating anxiety faded. She eventually started going home to sleep.

At night, the hospital staff checked in on him, and the security detail was reduced to two men. Sometime past midnight, one of the guards went to the restroom while the other dozed off in a chair.

Felicia's crew slipped in like shadows. They knocked out the sleeping guard and smuggled Dorian out of the hospital without a trace.

The next morning, Dorian woke up entirely disoriented. It took him a few seconds to recognize the expensive, familiar decor of the room. Panic seized his throat, and he bolted upright in bed.

"Felicia."

She was walking toward him, holding a bowl of warm soup, fully intending to feed him. Dorian recoiled as if he'd been electrocuted, freezing in place and staring at her with wide, terrified eyes.

Felicia gave a soft, chilling laugh. "What's the matter? Have you spent so much time with the Everhart girl that you can't even stand to look at me anymore?"

Dorian didn't dare answer. He knew that no matter what she said, his only option was to listen. Her words were laced with traps, and a street kid like him was no match for a seasoned predator's mind games.

He forced his expression into careful submission. "Don't say that, Felicia. You'll always be the most important person in my life."
