Chapter 920
Felicia's face twisted with rage.
"Are you afraid of the consequences, or are you just too deeply in love to pull the trigger?"
Dorian practically dropped to his knees, his voice cracking as he begged.
"I swear to God, Leonie and I have never slept together! I look at her like an older sister, and she treats me like a younger brother. That's it.
"She's in love with someone else! I'm not lying to you. If I am, may I die a brutal death."
Felicia glared at him, letting the silence stretch on for a suffocatingly long time.
"You expect me to believe you spent all those days locked in a hospital room with her and never touched her? Who the hell would buy that?"
Dorian broke down in tears.
"It's the truth! She's in love with Connor Kaufman from Starfall City.
"She was just using me to make that punk jealous. They literally got into a
screaming match over it yesterday. It has absolutely nothing to do with me. Felicia, if you don't believe me, look into it yourself. You have eyes all over the city. It won't take much to confirm we aren't together."
Felicia absorbed his desperate confession, her skepticism warring with her sick desire to keep him.
"I'll trust you for now. But I'll spare her life on one condition: you lure her here."
Felicia leaned in close.
"You know Hawthorne left town, right? I heard he's heading out to The Great Basin Wilderness. Who knows if he'll even make it back alive.
"Without him breathing down Sully's neck, do you honestly think Sully will just let you walk? I met with Sully yesterday. I paid him the three million. He won't hunt you anymore, but don't forget-you owe that money to me now.
"We've been through too much together. You know how much I despise my husband, and I loathe men who cheat. If you really want to leave me, you'll have to wait until I'm utterly bored of you. Until then, you aren't going anywhere."
She tossed his phone onto the mattress in front of him.
"You want to prove your loyalty? Do it now. Call Leonie. Give her your location and tell her to come save you."
Dorian froze, staring at the phone. Felicia's eyes turned instantly murderous.
"If you don't get her here, it proves you've been lying to me this whole time. Let me make this clear: if you bring her to me, I might let her live.
"But if you try to protect her, I will have my men slaughter her. You know I don't make empty threats. And if you're praying for Layne to swoop in and save the day, you're delusional. He's just a kid playing CEO. You really think he has the firepower to protect you?"
Trembling so violently he could barely hold the device, Dorian finally picked it up and dialed Leonie's number. She answered on the first ring.
His voice shook as he choked out the words.
"Leonie... help me."
Leonie's voice was frantic on the other end.
but
"Dorian, where the hell are you?! The bodyguards said you vanished! I checked the hospital cameras, the power was conveniently out during that exact window. No one knows where you went!"
Staring at Felicia, who was calmly smoking a cigarette just inches away, Dorian forced the lie past his lips.
"Felicia locked me in the basement. You have to come get me."
The second the words were out, Felicia snatched the phone from his grip and hung up. She patted his cheek approvingly.
"Obedience looks good on you, Dorian. Don't worry, I'll leave her breathing. But I need to verify that you two haven't slept together. Don't blame me for being paranoid.
"I've been backstabbed too many times to trust anyone's word. I gave you a way out, and you threw it away.
"If you don't leave with her, it'll prove I can trust you again. I will happily fund your life forever. Whatever you want, it's yours.
"I even considered having a kid with you, did you know that? Unfortunately, I'm too old now, but the thought was there. Now, show me where your loyalties lie."
She signaled to the two massive guards flanking the door.
"Throw him in the basement."
It suddenly clicked for Dorian-the kidnapping, the phone call. Felicia wanted to trap
them both in a room to see if they acted like lovers.
She could tolerate almost anything, but she would never tolerate her boy toy cheating on her.
The last man Felicia had kept around ended up in the ocean, probably digested by sharks years ago.
The guards dragged Dorian down
into a pitch-black basement. The moment the heavy steel door slammed shut, plunging him into total darkness pure despair crashed over him.
He hammered on the door, screaming through the metal.
"Felicia, please! I swear to God there's nothing going on with Leonie! I'll do whatever
you want! I'll stay with you forever, just let me out!"
It was useless. Felicia was long gone.
Meanwhile, Leonie stood outside the
hospital in an absolute panic. The
moment she heard Dorian had been
dragged into Felicia's basement, she
jumped into her car and spec
straight to the Everhart estate to find Layne.
