Chapter 948
Sully realized that refusing to answer meant bleeding to death in the dirt, but more terrifying than death was the absolute certainty that his life as a man was
permanently over if he didn't get a surgeon immediately.
"I'll talk! I'll tell you everything! Just save me!" Sully shrieked, his voice cracking as he gasped out Felicia's location.
When Connor heard the destination, his expression darkened. Sully had named a notorious overseas syndicate based in Sweden. It was a globally recognized safe haven for the worst of the criminal underworld. The people who survived there were apex predators, shielded by untouchable cartels. Even international law enforcement treaded lightly in that territory. The Green family ran legitimate, clean enterprises; they had absolutely no reach into a heavily fortified European crime syndicate.
Frustrated, Connor delivered a brutal kick to Sully's ribs. Sully cried out, too broken to even curl up to protect himself.
"That's a very inconvenient location," Connor said coldly. "Are you testing me, Sully? Do you think I won't go there?"
Connor suspected it might be a lie to buy time, but Sully shook his head frantically through the pain.
"Her husband is based over there! He's a major shot-caller for the syndicate. He runs an entire faction. She messed up bad, and she knew he was the only one who could protect her. I swear I'm telling the truth! Ask anyone in the inner circle. She's hiding with him!"
Connor fell silent. He hadn't done a deep dive into Felicia's background yet, but he had heard rumors about her husband. An organization that deeply entrenched and heavily armed wasn't something the average person ever knew about. The fact that Sully even knew the details lent credibility to the confession.
It made things immensely complicated. The Green family couldn't help him there. He was going to have to walk into the lion's den alone.
Sully sobbed, looking up at Connor with desperate, pain-filled eyes. "I told you. You promised you'd let me go."
Connor still needed this piece of trash alive as leverage. He only trusted half of what Sully said, and if it turned out to be a trap, he wanted Sully around to pay the price. He ordered his men to throw Sutty in the back of a van and drop him at an underground clinic with heavily armed guards posted at the door. Once he was stitched up, he'd be dragged right back to the warehouse.
Despair washed over Sully as the men hauled him up. He realized he wasn't
walking free anytime soon. "You lying bastard! You said you'd let me go!"
Connor chuckled darkly. "You've still got enough energy to scream... Good. Tape his mouth shut. We'll see if your intel holds up."
Sully realized his mistake. He had assumed Connor would just dump him, considering he was practically a dead man walking. But Connor was too smart to toss away his only Insurance policy before he had Felicia in his sights.
With the intel secured, Connor's next move was to fly to Sweden, infiltrate the syndicate, and drag Felicia back to Greenvale. But he had to move quietly Nobody could know he was Leaving especially not Gwyneth or Leonie.
Leonie was barely a shell of a person now. No matter what Connor said to her, it didn't register. She simply lay there, staring blankly from sunrise to sunset, completely lost to the world.
