Chapter 955
"So, you're Connor."
Connor's expression turned lethal.
"You do know me, don't you? How? And why the hell did you kill my parents?"
Violet looked at him as if he were a joke, her eyes brimming with sheer contempt. "After all these years, are you here to avenge them? I'm serving life. Even if you wanted to kill me, you couldn't lay a finger on me in here."
Her blatant admission proved Marcus hadn't lied. A savage ruthlessness crept into Connor's gaze.
"I don't need to kill you to get my revenge. I can make you wish you were dead."
The threat didn't faze Violet in the slightest. She threw her head back and laughed, a shrill, grating sound that bounced off the claustrophobic concrete walls. A guard struck the iron bars with a baton.
"Watch your behavior!" the guard barked.
Violet scoffed. "What are you going to do? Throw me in solitary?"
She muttered it under her breath, not daring to yell, but Connor caught every word. Time had ravaged her. Compared to Victoria's enduring grace, this woman was a wretched, hideous sight.
Even if he squinted and imagined her youth, he had seen enough beautiful women to know Violet was painfully mediocre. When men were blind, they were truly blind.
Violet stared at Connor, her features twisted into a mocking sneer.
"Make me wish I were dead? Take a look around, kid. I'm already in hell. I committed the ultimate sin, and now everyone gets to revel in my punishment. But who cares anymore? How is McNeil doing?"
Her tone abruptly shifted, her morbid curiosity pivoting to McNeil.
Connor glowered at her. "I'm not here to talk about your pathetic affair. I just want to know why you ran my parents down."
A sinister grin stretched across Violet's face. "Did Marcus not give you the details? He really went out of his way to keep you in the dark. Blame it on your parents' rotten luck. They just happened to cross my path while I was driving drunk.
"If you could have seen the pathetic way they died, it would have made your day. They threw themselves over you to shield you. Then the car exploded. They burned alive, completely charred to a crisp. It was a spectacular sight. You were that little rat they saved."
She broke into a psychotic fit of laughter. Snapping, Connor lunged forward, thrusting his hands through the iron grate and wrapping his fingers around Violet's throat it took two guards rushing over to finally tear him off her. It was the first time in his life he had lost totáb control, and he had come mere inches from snapping her neck.
"You psychotic bitch! You deserve to rot in this cage forever! Death is too good for you, you ugly, evil hag!"
Connor unleashed every vicious curse he knew. If the guards hadn't been physically restraining him, he would have ripped her apart with his bare hands. But Violet just kept laughing from behind the bars, a maniacal cackle that echoed until the guards dragged her away.
"Mr. Kaufman, there's no point
arguing with a lunatic," a guard said,
ver
panting. "Her mind broke years ago She used to run around screaming that she was the lady of the Langford family. Everyone just laughed at her. She kept that delusion going for twenty years before she finally shut up Whats your connection to her? She's never getting out of here."
The veins in Connor's forehead bulged, his eyes bloodshot with rage. The woman hadn't lied. His parents had indeed died in that. wreck and he now knew the

horrifying lengths they had gone to protect him Suddenly, an
excruciating pain lanced through his skull. He clutched his head with both hands, his face contorting in pure agony.
