"Ugh, just shut up."

“Haha, Lucie, I swear, you have the best eye-roll I've ever seen. Seriously, it's a work of art."

Right then, the door crashed open with a bang. June stormed in like she owned the place, catching Elio's last words perfectly.

"Well, well, well! So you like it when people roll their eyes at you, huh?" She shot him a look dripping with sarcasm. "Here, let me give you the deluxe version."

As June barged in, Mr. Lee and a few security guards scrambled after her, completely frazzled. "Ma'am, you can't go in there!"

Useless. None of them could slow June down when she was on a mission.

"Ms. Anderson, we tried to stop her, but she just barged right in!"

Lucie just smiled, calm as ever. "It's fine. She's a friend of mine. You can all go."

"Oh! Sorry, didn't realize she was your friend. We'll leave you to it, then."

June rounded on Elio, her eyes blazing. "Elio, you absolute bastard! Where exactly do you think you're running off to? I'm telling you, even if you blasted off to outer space, I'd hunt you down."

Elio coughed and looked like he wanted to disappear. "How do you always find me?"

"Doesn't matter," June shot back. "Point is, you're coming back with me. We're getting married."

Before he could protest, June lunged and wrapped herself around him, koala-style -legs locked around his waist, arms tight around his neck.

"Try running now!" she smirked.

Elio tried to pry her off, exasperated. "Please, have mercy! Forcing this won't make either of us happy. Let me go, I'm begging you."

June only clung tighter. "No way. You have to marry me. If I don't marry you, I get nothing. My mom said if I marry you, I can split the inheritance with my brothers. If not, I get zip."

"Get off! I'd rather stay single forever than marry you," Elio groaned, at his wits' end. He finally managed to peel her off and dump her onto the sofa. "Stop being ridiculous. I'm in love with someone else. There's just no way."

June's eyes went wide and she glanced at Lucie. "Oh, I know you like Lucie. I'm not stopping you. Marry me and you can still chase after her I told you, just need the marriage certificate. After that, you live your life, I live mine. We don't have to get in each other's way."

Elio looked like he might pass out from sheer frustration. "Just give up already. It's never going to happen."

June pouted, completely serious.

"Okay, then how about this: all three

of us get married. We'll move to Dubai. You can have multiple wives there. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, you're with Lucie T Tuesdays Thursdays, and Saturdays, you're with me. Sundays, Lucie and I hang out, and you get a day off."

Elio stared at her, completely defeated and half-laughing, half-crying. "Wildcat,

shut up. Seriously, everything you say needs to be censored."

Lucie just stared, speechless. June said these totally wild things like it was the most normal conversation in the world.

June huffed and turned to Lucie. "Lucie, relax. I'm not here to mess things up between you and this jerk I just want in. Please, I'm desperate. I don't want to be broke forever Can you talk to him for me? Get him to agree. As soon as were officially married, he's all yours."

"I... uh..." Lucie was stunned. She'd never dealt with anything like this before. Her mind was just blank.

Elio clutched his chest, like his heart physically hurt. "June, please, I'm begging you, stop this. I'd rather die than marry you. Just let it go."

June wasn't budging. "Don't die yet. At least get the marriage certificate first. And even if you do die, I'll marry your ghost. Either way, I'm marrying you in this lifetime."

"Are you for real? I can't with you." Elio tried to make a run for it.

June grabbed the back of his shirt before he could escape. "Where do you think you're going? Stop right there!"

He tried to shake her off. "Don't follow me. I seriously can't stand another second of this."

June clung on stubbornly, getting dragged across the floor as he tried to get away. "You're not getting away. Just accept your fate."

Lucie watched, terrified they'd break something in her office. "Can you both please calm down? Everything in here is super fragile. Just sit down and talk, okay?"

“Fine,” June said, finally letting go. "If you agree to marry me, I'll do whatever you want. I won't interfere with your life after we're married—I've already compromised this much. What else do you want?"

"That's not the problem," Elio sighed, drained. "The problem is we're just not right for each other."
