Steven just smirked and stretched his neck toward her. "Come on. Right here. Do

it."

Lucie was shaking, a mix of anger and fear making her voice tremble. "Don't think I won't!" she snapped. "If you try to drag me back, I'll—”

He cut her off with a lazy grin and reached out, wrapping his hand right around the blade. "You'll what?"

Lucie's eyes went wide. For a second, she'd forgotten she was even holding a real knife. She'd never imagined he'd just grab it barehanded. Blood started seeping through his fingers, dripping onto the car seat. That's when it hit her- what she'd done, and what he'd just done.

Her mind blanked out. She let go of the knife in shock. "Steven, are you out of your mind?"

He didn't even flinch. Blood dripping everywhere, he just tossed the knife out the window. "Don't mess around with knives again. They're dangerous."

A chill ran down Lucie's spine. Seeing his blood, realizing how little he cared about his own pain-it was terrifying. If he could be this harsh with himself, what was he capable of with others?

"Let's go home."

"You're insane!" Lucie blurted, her hands shaking as she dug out the first-aid kit. She tried to stop the bleeding, fumbling with bandages. The cut was deep and the blood just kept coming. "We have to get to the hospital, now."

Steven actually smiled, like this was all just some minor inconvenience. "Alright, I'll listen to you, babe."

She pressed gauze to his hand and wrapped it as best she could. "I'll drive."

"Okay."

She was too rattled to argue. She climbed into the driver's seat, started the car, and sped toward the

hospital His ear was banged but still running. Hers was totaled she'd have to leave it and call a tow truck later.

On the way, Lucie's heart was racing. Steven sat next to her, calm as ever watching her with an unreadable expression and the faintest hint of a smile. “My hand hurts, babe

"Hold on, we're almost there," she said, panic creeping into her voice. "Seriously,

what were you thinking? That was a knife. How could you just grab it?"

Steven let out a cold little laugh. "And how could you pull a knife on your husband? I wonder if you'll dare to do it again."

Lucie felt ice in her veins. Before

they got married, he'd seemed so charming, so elegant, every inch

perfect gentleman. Now it was like he was someone else entirely.

Steven realized she was driving way too fast. He spoke up, calm as ever. "Slow down. Don't go so fast."

She took her foot off the gas, trying to steady her breathing. "I just don't want you bleeding out before we get there."

"So you do care about me after all."

She didn't answer. Her mind was a mess.

Five minutes later, they pulled up to the hospital. "Come on, let's get your hand checked out. That cut is deep-you'll probably need stitches."

She parked and hurried him inside. The moment a doctor saw Steven's bloody hand, they rushed over, ready to help.
