Chapter 158
Laney’s POV ᴜᴘᴅᴀᴛᴇ ꜰʀᴏᴍ fіndnovel.net
I was shocked by all the bags at the counter once I was checked out. I saw the lilac dress, but I had specifically told Ana that I wasn’t going to get it. I loved it, but right now, I really couldn’t afford to splurge like that.
“Ana, I thought I decided against the lilac dress,” I told her in a low tone. I was going to pay them back, and as much as I loved it, I had nowhere to wear it. There was no need for a dress like that, not just yet.
“You did, but I bought it for you as a gift. It looks like it was made for you, and you never know when a dress like that will come in handy,” Ana replied. “Once you start getting out more, I’m sure someone will ask you out in no time.”
I saw Seth look at her, as if he wanted to say something.
I spent all night speaking with pack members and getting things ready for transport. I have witches and fae working on spells that will transport big items and harnessing power to replenish our transporters. I am in my office finalizing the moving plans when Marie, Linc and Ingrid walk in, looking as tired as I feel.
“What’s the plan?” Linc asks as they walk in, running a hand through his dark brown hair.
“I am going to transport first, with you two, Tali and Nali. Once we determine where people need to be transported and what the plan is at the castle we will start transporting people and items.” I say and they nod their heads.
“What do you need me to do?” Ingrid asks me with a slight frown on her face.
“You are more than welcome to join us if you would like. The more liaisons we have there for our people and the royal pack members the better. I am not sure how they are taking the news.” | say and Marie’s brows scrunch together.
“Who’s to say they are getting ready to tear us apart limb from limb when we enter?” She asks.
“I sent a few scouts this morning to gauge the atmosphere in the pack. They were to inform Henry that they were there and mask their scents and sneak around.” I answer and she nods her head.
“Why aren’t you packed?” Ingrid asks, looking around my office, which still has everything in order.
“I haven’t had time and I am also going to be the last to leave to ensure that everybody else is safe.” I answer and she nods her head in understanding.
“Okay, how many people are ready?” I ask and they all look around.
“Well I am pretty sure that almost everybody is ready. Nobody could really sleep last night due to the news.” Linc says and I nod.
“Alright let’s get the girls and head out. We also need to grab Iris. She is to come with us.” I say and stand up. We all walk down to the foyer when I mindlink the girls to come meet us with their mother. Once we reach the bottom of the stairs I see the girls and Iris walking out from the dining area. Both with bags on their shoulders.
“Girls, I need you to leave the bags here. I have witches transporting all items and transporters moving strictly bodies. It uses less of their power.” | inform them and they sit their bags next to the foyer door. Ingrid’s transporter walks out of the dining room next and nods to me then walks behind her.
“Alright, the plan is simple. Go to the pack, ensure it is one hundred percent safe and figure out the plan. Once the plan is figured out we will begin transporting everybody.” I say and they all nod their heads in understanding.
Next thing I know we are materializing in front of the castle steps. The guards there quickly get into a fighting stance at the intrusion, but upon seeing the queen and girls they relax. Well mostly, they are still on edge since we are there.
“Good morning.” I say to them and start walking up the stairs. They look at me wide eyed then their looks turn to confusion.
“That is Alpha Evan. You will show her the respect she deserves.” Iris scolds the guards, which surprises me. I didn’t think that I won her favor yet, only just barely got in her good graces. Hopefully that is a good sign. I hear the guards apologize as I walk through the main doors.
When I walk in I am greeted by Henry and who I assume are his parents as well as the Beta Jaxon and a young girl who I assume is his sister from her looks and scent.
Henry hugs me and breathes a sigh of relief upon seeing me and everybody else who walked through the doors.
“Good morning Henry. I trust that everything is in order and ready?” I ask and he pulls back and nods his head.
“Yes Alpha. It took all night, but it is good to go.
” Henry says and I hear somebody clear their throat from behind us. I look to see that Warrick has joined us with a brown haired woman clinging to his arm. I can’t help the flash of pain I feel and my wolf’s small growl that I am holding back.
“Alpha?” I hear the older man, I am assuming Henry’s father, question in surprise.
“Yes, let’s get the introductions out of the way shall we?” I ask and when nobody answers I continue.
“I am Alpha Evan of the rogue pack, this is my Beta Linc and my Head Gamma Marie.” I say motioning towards Linc on my right, and Marie on my left. After a few awkwards seconds of nobody speaking up Henry does.
“Right, so this is my father Jay, my mother Henrietta, Beta Jaxon and his sister Reana.” He says motioning toward each of the people in the room. Warrick clears his throat and pulls the woman closer to him.
“As you all know I am Alpha King Warrick and this is my chosen mate Hadley.” He says while looking down at the woman. They smile at each other and she looks back at us, I see the disgust in her eyes before she hides it.
“It is lovely to meet you all. If we could get going? We have a long day ahead of us.” I say and they nod. Then I see my spies appear from what seems to be the shadows startling everybody, except my pack members.
“Alpha.” They acknowledge and everybody stares at me.
“Clear?” I ask and they all look at one another.
“They are not happy, but fear repercussions if they act out. There are some small groups trying to plan attacks and protests, but that is to be expected.” One of them says and I nod my head.
“YOU HAD PEOPLE HERE SPYING ON THE PACK?” Warrick growls angrily.
“How else am I to be certain that my people will‹ Chapter43
be protected?” I ask and he steps forward, leaving Hadley behind him.
“Because I gave you my word.” He says and I roll my eyes.
“And what a word that is. Look. As an Alpha you would have done the same thing. I am bringing my WHOLE pack here. I needed to ensure that they wouldn’t be in danger.” I say trying to explain to him and he just rumbles and turns around, walking up the stairs. Everybody else is following behind him.
We reach a big conference room with maps and stacks of papers surrounding the table and we all take a seat.
“Everything is planned, We have groups of servants ready to show each member to their quarters when they arrive.” Warrick says sliding a castle map and land map towards me. I study them carefully and notice that there is a courtyard at the back entrance of the new wing, which is where we are staying.
“Good. I will have groups of 20 transported every half hour along with their things.” | say and grab a pen. “The first group will be dropped off here.” I say circling and area. “The next group here, and another one here. Once the fourth group is dropped here, the first group should be done and we will drop the next group off where they were. And keep cycling through.
We will adjust the timing if need be.” I say and grab a scratch paper and start writing down the coordinates.
“How are you transporting your pack and items separately? We thought you may be driving.” Hadley speaks up and I could see Iris rolling her eyes from across the table.
“My transporters are in charge of getting the people here, while a select group of witches and fae are in charge of getting the belongings to these locations.” I say and point towards smaller circles just next to the larger ones. She gasps and looks around them, to me. Her green eyes darkened a little.
“It was to my understanding that your pack was filled with rogues, not witches and fae.” She says accusingly. I lift one eyebrow towards her then look around the room. I see slight irritation with everybody in the room, except Warrick. I look at her again, she is oblivious to the fact that everybody is irritated.
“Rogues are not just rogue werewolves. Each being who was cast out or left their normal pack or coven or whatever it may be is considered a rogue. My pack is made up of more than just rogue wolves.” I say, trying to clear the air and she shoots a panicked look towards Warrick, who is staring me down.
“You didn’t mention that. What are our people going to think? How will they respond?” She asks Warrick, who keeps his eyes on me. I see irritation in his eyes and I don’t know if it is toward me or Hadley.
“Obviously you weren’t listening to his announcement. He clearly told everybody about multiple creatures being the pack and that they were all to be welcomed here.” Henry scoffed and Warrick growled.
“Do not speak to her that way. You may not be a part of this pack anymore, but she is my mate and will be treated as such.” Warrick snapped at Henry. I could feel Warrick’s aura seeping out of him faster and faster. Handley has a smug look on her face as she looks at Henry.
“If everything is done, we will leave and start the transport process. We need to get a move on if we intend to be done by the end of the day.” I say, hiding my hurt and breaking the tension. Warrick’s aura rescinds and he looks at me and nods.
“Everyone that is here is going to stay here to help. I am going back to my pack to ensure everything is okay on my end. I will be the last to leave. Now.” I say looking to one of my spies that was in the room. “Quel I need you to take me back.” He nods and walks toward me.
“The first group will arrive in 15 minutes, please have the escorts ready.” I say and before anybody could say anything I am transported back to my pack.
