Chapter 184
"..." Liliana was used to seeing Erma whenever she visited the Forrest Estate, so they were quite familiar with each other.
Erma loved to joke around and tease her and Cedric.
In the past, her words would make Liliana blush, but her heart would be filled with a sweet warmth.
Now, all she felt was a sour pang, and her expression stiffened.
Erma and the others would always say things like: *Look, the missus is blushing.
The missus only has eyes for the Young Master. The missus revolves her whole life around the Young Master.*
They never once commented on how the Young Master treated the missus.
And they never saw a problem with that.
After all, even Liliana herself had always been happy with the arrangement.
"Ma'am?" Erma must have said something else. Seeing that she wasn't responding, Erma waved a hand in front of her face. "Why aren't you saying anything?"
"What?" Liliana snapped back to reality.
Erma giggled, covering her mouth with her hand. "Every time I mention the Young Master, you get all shy and lost in thought. I asked you what you like about him!"
Liliana replied robotically, "He's handsome, has a great body. Even without money or power, he's the type of man women would fall for."
She was just humoring Erma.
But as she finished speaking, she saw the reflection of a man's powerful silhouette in the kitchen window.
Liliana turned around and realized Cedric had come downstairs at some point.
He stood with his hands in his pockets, a smile spreading across his face. He seemed to be in a good mood.
Of course. Liliana's constant sullenness and threats of divorce were all just to get his attention.
More than likely, even getting close to Douglas was a way to test him.
He cursed himself for losing his composure; she had almost led him by the nose.
"Young Master, you're so quiet on your feet. You were eavesdropping on us. You made the missus all shy," Erma teased.
Liliana turned back to her work. Saying things like that wouldn't upset Cedric, so there was no need for her to explain.
Still, she felt a strange resistance in her heart.
A resistance to the pleased look on his face, and to Erma's continued teasing.
"Something came up at the office. I have to go. You two eat without me."
Cedric's words made Liliana turn around again. She saw that he was dressed in a suit and tie, clearly about to head out.
"Young Master, dinner's almost
ready. Why don't you eat before you go?" Erma said, speeding up her chopping

thirty minutes, tops!" Content"
"No need." Cedric was already walking toward the door.
He changed his shoes, walked out, and soon the sound of the Maybach's engine faded into the distance.
Erma sighed. "Leaving at this hour probably means the Young Master isn't coming back tonight. If he keeps this up even the stronge body won't be able to take it."
"You go ahead and finish cooking. I'll take it to him at the office later."
Liliana wasn't sure what possessed her to say those words.
All she knew was that the moment they left her lips-
She felt like she was being torn in two.
One part of her screamed not to bother with Cedric, while the other desperately
searched for reasons to take good care of him.
After all, if Cedric was happy, it wouldn't hurt her.
She could get more money and live more comfortably.
But she knew that beneath all those excuses lay the feelings she had tried so hard
to bury.
While she was still conflicted, Erma had already finished cooking and packed everything up for her.
"Ma'am, why don't you go eat with the Young Master at his office? I've packed enough for two. Be safe on the road."
The insulated container was pressed into her hands. Pinned into a corner, Liliana had no choice but to go.
She drove straight to Zephyr Group.
The bustling city was gradually quieting down, and only the top floor of the towering skyscraper was lit up.
Liliana got out of her car and started walking toward the company entrance.
She hadn't taken more than a few steps when she saw Cedric's car driving out of the underground parking garage.
The interior light was on. Cedric, exuding an air of refined elegance, had a smile in his eyes as he leaned.
to the side, listening to what Sylvia was saying.
At that moment, Sylvia's gaze met Liliana's through the car window.
