Chapter 93

The streets were quiet, and though they stood on opposite sides of the road, their voices carried clearly. Cedric's lips twisted into a smile, but the look in his deep, dark eyes was glacial. "What kind of hobby is this, Mr. Sewell? Visiting another man's wife in the dead of night?"

The formal address, 'Mr. Sewell,' instantly shifted the dynamic from distant acquaintances to adversaries.

"Cedric, give her some space. Some privacy." Douglas hadn't expected to find the once-radiant Liliana so changed after two years. She was quiet, her smiles rare. A constant frown seemed etched on her face, and a palpable sadness clung to her, as if she were being crushed by an immense weight. It was heartbreaking. He couldn't imagine what she had been through.

"This is our business. We don't need an outsider worrying about it." Cedric slipped back into his car, shut the door, and drove away. He only needed to confirm that Liliana wasn't brazen enough to let Douglas spend the night. As for how to deal with his disobedient wife, he hadn't decided yet.

The Maybach sped down the street and disappeared. Douglas watched it go, a complex expression on his face. After a long moment, he sighed and walked toward his own car.

Later that night, Liliana's emotions caught up with her. It started when Juniper asked why she had come home so late. At first, she tried to avoid talking about Sylvia moving into their marital home, but her evasive answers were full of holes. Under Juniper's persistent questioning, she finally told her everything.

"Sylvia did that on purpose, didn't she?" Juniper said through gritted teeth, strangling a rabbit-shaped pillow.

Liliana lay on the chaise lounge, her long hair fanned out around her as she stared at the ceiling. "It doesn't matter. What matters is that I get this divorce finalized as soon as possible." Before this, she had been agonizing over how to get Cedric to agree. Now, she was resolved to be direct. No more dragging it out. It would only lead to more humiliation.

"Damn right, divorce him!" Juniper declared fiercely. "Tomorrow, I'm hiring two bodyguards. We're going to Zephyr Group, and we're going to confront that jerk Forrest!"

Liliana curled into herself and shook her head. "No matter how awful he's been, I just want a divorce. I don't want to cause a scene." Mostly because she couldn't afford to.

"Fine. After you're divorced, I'll find a burlap sack in a color he hates, stuff him in it, and give him the beating he deserves." Juniper felt so indignant on her behalf that she couldn't let it go.

But for Liliana, no act of revenge would be as satisfying as the day she could stand before Cedric, free and proud.

She stayed up late drafting a new divorce agreement. This time, she didn't ask for a single penny. It wasnt about pride, was about avoiding another pointless argument with Cedric. As long as he signed, she didn't care about anything else.

With renewed determination, she woke up early the next morning, took the papers, and went straight to Zephyr Group. It was eight o'clock. Based on his usual schedule Cedric should have been at the office.

She stood outside the building and called him. He didn't answer. She tried again.

Nothing. Finally, she called Timothy, who picked up immediately.

"Mrs. Forrest, is something wrong?"

"I need to see Cedric," she said, getting straight to the point.

"Mr. Forrest is in a meeting. He'll be busy all morning. Can't this wait until he gets home?" Timothy could tell from her tone that something was seriously wrong in the past when she dropped things off, she either stayed downstairs or left

immediately. She had never been so demanding.

Liliana wasn't in the mood for games. "He has to finish sometime. Either you let me come up and wait, or I'll go to the front desk and schedule an appointment to discuss our divorce."
