Sam felt a wave of regret wash over him and nodded quickly when his mother suggested he visit his grandmother.

Lydia turned to him, urgency in her voice, “Get dressed right away, hurry!”

In a flurry, Sam snatched his clothes and put them on.

Lydia continued, “By the way, what brought you back from Aurous Hill so soon? And I heard something outrageous about you swallowing a ruby necklace. Is that true? Is it the one I picked for you to give to Miss Moore? What’s going on?”

With a heavy sigh, Sam felt overwhelmed by his mother’s barrage of questions. “Mom, can you please just stop? To put it simply, at Jasmine’s birthday party in Aurous Hill, I ran into this guy named Wade, and we made a bet. I ended up losing and had to swallow the ruby necklace.”

Lydia frowned at his explanation. “How did you anger someone from the Wade family? Is he related to the Wade family in Eastcliff? Son, we can’t afford to cross them!”

Sam quickly reassured her, “No, Mom, he’s not from Eastcliff. He’s just a pathetic live-in son-in-law from a low-tier family in Aurous Hill. The Moore family is completely enchanted by his ability to brew some mediocre magical elixir.”

Lydia pressed on, “Have you talked to the head of the Moore family about the wedding plans and possible partnership? Your father is hoping you can use this situation to impress your grandfather.”

Frustrated, Sam replied, “Forget it, Mom! The Moore family is filled with ignorant crooks who can’t tell the difference between right and wrong. Plus, Jasmine seems to be interested in that Wade guy. I seriously think they might be involved!”

“That’s impossible!” Lydia shook her head firmly. “I hired a private investigator to look into Jasmine, and she’s a great girl. I can tell you, many young women in Eastcliff don’t compare to her! The investigator also mentioned that she hasn’t been in any relationships.”

Then, leaning closer, she whispered, “Here’s a secret: I even had the investigator check Jasmine’s medical report from a top private hospital, and it shows she’s still a virgin!”

“What?!” The fierce, wolf-like glint returned to Sam’s eyes as he reacted.

He blurted out, “Jasmine Moore is still a virgin?!”

Lydia scolded him in a hushed tone, “How many times do I have to remind you to watch your language? If your grandparents hear you, it will leave a bad impression!”

Apologizing, Sam said, “I’m sorry, Mom, it’s just so unexpected that I couldn’t help but react!”

Lydia continued, “From my findings, Jasmine truly stands out. Your grandfather places great importance on legitimate bloodlines, a woman’s status, and her cultured nature. I believe he would be thrilled if you could marry Jasmine. Why else would I have you travel all the way to Aurous Hill?”

Lowering her voice again, she instructed, “Listen closely, Jasmine is your golden opportunity.”

“Your grandfather has always wanted your uncle’s eldest son to pursue the fourth young miss of the Wade family, but she showed no interest, and he ended up being criticized for his shortcomings.”

“Then there was your uncle’s second son, who was dating the young miss of the Fisher family in Eastcliff. Although their family is well-regarded socially, the girl is so plain that even cosmetic surgery couldn’t help her. Plus, her carefree and wild nature doesn’t fit the image of a refined young lady, so your grandparents aren’t pleased with her.
