The Amazing son in law Chapter 613
As Christopher daydreamed about transforming Elaine into his perpetual cash flow, Lady Wilson entered the room, her expression dark and troubled.
Startled, Christopher sprang from his chair and exclaimed, “Mom, you’re back! How did everything go?”
With a huff of indignation, Lady Wilson replied, “The bank is about to initiate the bankruptcy liquidation process, starting next Monday. Once that begins, they will seize our house. Where is the eight million you promised? Why haven’t you sent it to me yet?!”
Christopher let out a hollow laugh. “Mom, please don’t rush me. Didn’t I explain that the money is tied up in a fixed deposit? My fund manager is working to withdraw it as quickly as possible. I assure you, I’ll get you the funds—just be patient.”
Deep down, he wished to withhold even a single penny from her. However, a significant change in perspective had occurred.
He relied on Lady Wilson to inherit the hidden assets she had tucked away, which included millions in life insurance upon her passing, several million in jewelry she owned, and antiques belonging to his father valued at over twenty million.
Christopher knew his mother well. Those jewels and antiques were her last hope; she would never part with them to save the company. Moreover, the location of these treasures was a secret known only to her. She had likely stashed them away long ago to ensure that when the bank and court came to seize the company and its assets, they would remain undiscovered.
If he were to fall out with his mother now, there was a real chance she would disinherit him. Thus, he had no choice but to come up with that eight million dollars!
Once Linda sold Charlie’s Thompson First villa, he could finally provide Lady Wilson with the eight million!
Though Lady Wilson couldn’t read his thoughts, her agitation grew as she listened to his excuses. “Chris, I raised you. I can tell when something’s brewing in your mind just by looking at you. Don’t even think about dragging this out to keep the money for yourself! If you don’t give me the funds, I’ll move to Jacob’s house tomorrow. When I pass away, I’ll leave my life insurance, jewelry, and your father’s antiques to Jacob! Don’t say I didn’t warn you!”
In a panic, Christopher realized his mother was threatening him with the inheritance. He rushed to her side, trying to soothe her. “Mom, what are you saying? I promised I would give you the money, and I will! I’ll have it ready for you by today or tomorrow at the latest, alright?”
Lady Wilson collapsed onto the sofa. “Okay, then bring me the money right now!”
Christopher spread his arms, frowning. “Mom, I truly don’t have the cash at this moment… But don’t worry, I’ll have it for you by tomorrow!”
Before he could finish, Lady Wilson cried out in frustration, “Argh! Tomorrow, tomorrow! You ungrateful brat, how dare you keep throwing the word ‘tomorrow’ at me! I’ve raised you for nothing!”
Gently, Christopher patted his mother’s hand. “Mom, please calm down. There’s no need to shout. I genuinely don’t have the money right now; it’s with Hannah! She went out today to take care of some matters. I promise when she returns, I’ll get it to you no later than tomorrow!”
Lady Wilson stopped her tears and inquired, “It’s getting late; why hasn’t she come back yet?”
“I’m not sure. She went to the bank and should be back soon…”
He then pulled out his phone and messaged Hannah, “Dear, where are you? Are you on your way home?”
However, there was no response.
Frowning in confusion, he said, “Mom, I’ll call Hannah now.”
When he called Hannah and put the phone on speaker, a system voice announced, “Sorry, the person you have called is unavailable.”
“Huh, that’s strange. See, Mom? You heard it; her phone must be dead. I just can’t reach her…” Latest content published on FindN0vel.net
“Keep trying until you connect!” Lady Wilson snapped angrily. “Let me warn you, don’t try to trick me. Hand me the phone; I’ll call her myself!”
With a sigh of resignation, Christopher passed the phone to his mother. “Here, you can call her.”
