Claire glanced at Elaine and said, “Mom, can you please stop making things difficult for Dad? He doesn’t usually spend much money. Why are you confronting him now when he just wants to treat a few friends to dinner?”
Elaine responded, “I’m just trying to save money for our family! Are we really the type of family that should be spending twenty thousand dollars on a single meal?”
