Then, her focus shifted to Charlie, criticizing him for not having a job and for being a freeloader. Her nagging only grew more intense, as she insisted on setting him up with a security guard position in the parking lot that paid three thousand dollars a month, demanding he hand over his entire paycheck to her.

Charlie was well aware that Elaine’s finances were as empty as a drum after her recent schemes, leaving her unable to indulge in her usual luxuries. Consequently, she had taken to sulking around the house and incessantly complaining.

Her foul mood made her find Charlie particularly intolerable.

However, after a while, Charlie sensed that something was amiss.

Normally, there would be two guards and a pair of waitresses at the entrance, with the guards ensuring security and the waitresses greeting guests.

Today, though, the entrance was deserted, and a ‘closed’ sign hung ominously on the door.

“What’s going on?” Charlie muttered to himself. Had Don Albert reserved the entire restaurant for Jacob’s visit?

Just then, he spotted a group of anxious older men rushing out of Heaven Springs, looking as though they were fleeing for their lives.

Confused, Charlie furrowed his brow.

These men appeared to be around Jacob’s age, their faces painted with fear and anxiety as if something dreadful had transpired inside.

Concerned, Charlie quickly exited the car, intercepted one of the men, and inquired, “Sir, what’s happening?”

It was Mr. Price.

Trembling with fear, he shouted, “There’s been a murder upstairs!”

Charlie’s heart raced at the shocking revelation!
