Understanding Claire’s frustration, Charlie sighed softly and moved closer to her, offering comfort. “My dear wife, I know you’re concerned that your mother might be in pain or facing danger. But don’t you think a little hardship could be beneficial for her?”

Claire responded, “I get what you’re saying, but the key point is that if she suffers, it should be manageable. If she’s in real danger, then everything spirals out of control…”

Charlie nodded, then suggested, “Why don’t we get some rest tonight? We can resume our search for your mom in the morning, alright?”

Claire paused for a moment, then agreed, “Okay, we should go to bed. I’ll head to the police station first thing in the morning to check on their progress. They mentioned that if Mom is still missing by then, they’ll send out the Blue Sky Rescue team to help.”

“Sounds good.” Charlie quickly reassured her, “The Blue Sky Rescue team has significant resources at their disposal. They should be able to locate a missing person fairly easily…”

“I hope so…” Claire replied, turning back toward the bedroom.

Charlie followed closely behind, a hint of excitement bubbling within him.

After all, tonight was the night he would finally level up! He was eager to share the bed with his wife!

If all went well, he would soon consummate their marriage!

With those thoughts in mind, Charlie hurried into the bedroom, ready to embrace Claire and guide her to bed. However, to his surprise, she bypassed the bed and headed straight for the closet. She pulled out a set of bedding, glaring at Charlie as she declared, “Here! You’re still sleeping on the floor tonight!”

“What?” Charlie exclaimed, taken aback. “My dear wife, didn’t you say I could level up after moving into the villa? I’ve been sleeping on the floor for three years; it’s time for me to share the bed with you!”

Claire, slightly embarrassed, stomped her foot in frustration. “Yes, I did say that, but the circumstances have changed. Your upgrade will have to be postponed!”

With a gloomy expression, Charlie inquired, “How long will the delay be?”

Claire replied, her voice tinged with irritation, “It’ll be delayed until Mom comes home!”

Charlie’s expression shifted in disbelief.

Elaine, Elaine, you always seem to linger wherever you go!

As he mulled this over, Claire climbed into bed, her tone sharp as she said, “You’re not allowed to sneak in here! If you do, I’ll kick you out of the bedroom, and you’ll be sleeping on the first floor instead!”

Charlie had no choice but to acquiesce. “Alright, my dear wife. I won’t level up today. We can discuss this when Mom returns.”

Though Charlie felt a tinge of disappointment, he was also quite annoyed with Elaine.

If his mother-in-law hadn’t tried to swipe his black card, this situation wouldn’t have arisen!
