Chapter 1037

Shattered Illusions: Love, Lies, and Redemption · Lizetta

Conrad's expression froze, and he fell silent.

Lizetta looked at him in mock surprise. "No way. Did you really not prepare a gift for me? Tsk, tsk. You give your adopted daughter a luxury sports car worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, but your long-lost biological daughter gets absolutely nothing. All that talk about looking forward to my return, wanting me to be happy-it was all just empty lip service, wasn't it?"

Conrad did feel a twinge of guilt, mainly because he realized he had genuinely forgotten to prepare anything for Lizetta.

But hearing her call him out so bluntly twisted that guilt into defensive embarrassment.

He rubbed his temples and spoke in a deeply patronizing tone. "Lizetta, you are the Madden heiress. What could you possibly lack? There's no need to be so petty and jealous just because Andrea got a new car."

Lizetta laughed out of pure exasperation. She let out a sharp, breathy scoff.

"I had to explicitly ask for one, and I still haven't gotten anything. And you want me to play the saint? If I do that, wouldn't I just be handing over everything that rightfully belongs to me to someone else?"

She shot a deeply pointed look at Eartha and Andrea.

Conrad opened his mouth to scold her again, but Lizetta beat him to the punch.

"So, you really didn't prepare a welcome gift for me, did you? I'll just give Grandpa a call and see if he got me anything."

As Lizetta reached for her phone, the color drained slightly from Conrad's face.

As the man who had joined the Madden family through marriage, he harbored a deep-seated reverence and fear of Nelson Madden.

"Don't bother your grandfather. Of course, I prepared a gift for you."

"Oh? And what is it?"

Lizetta pocketed her phone. Under the watchful eyes of the room, Conrad pulled a sleek bank card from his wallet.

"I didn't know what you'd like. I initially wanted to buy you a car, but I was worried you wouldn't like the model. There's a few hundred thousand dollars on this card. Take it and buy whatever catches your eye."

He slid the card across the table toward her. Lizetta had the overwhelming urge to roll her eyes.

But she took the card anyway. She had endured enough of their sickening behavior today; she deserved a little compensation for her emotional distress.

"There's no need to buy a new car. The one Andrea drove today looks Berfectly fine to me didn't drive to

today anyway, so I'll just take

that one when I leave."

"You already took the money! What gives you the right to take my car too?!"

Andrea instantly lost her composure, her innocent facade shattering into pieces.

Realizing her outburst sounded too aggressive, she hurriedly tried to do damage control.

"It's not that I don't want you to have it, Liz. It's just that the car was a gift from Dad, and I-"

Lizetta cut her off. "Then you can just give me the equivalent in cash."

Andrea was speechless.

Where was she supposed to get that kind of cash to give Lizetta?

She was no longer the Madden heiress. When Nelson and Jerome had kicked her out of the family, they had seized all the shares, realestate, cars, and jewelry they had ever given her

They had shown absolutely zero mercy, only buying her a tiny house of and paying her overseas university tuition before leaving her to fend for herself.

fo

Now, even though she had crawled back to Conrad and Eartha, her monthly

allowance was barely a few thousand dollars.

She couldn't even afford a new designer bag.

She simply didn't have the money to pay Lizetta. And even if she did, she absolutely

wouldn't give it to her.

“Liz, do you really have to steal everything from me?”

Andrea's eyes reddened, and tears welled up on cue.

The two Porter brothers, Silas and his sibling, immediately rushed forward to

comfort her.
