Chapter 1051
If Remington hadn't cared so deeply, he wouldn't have caused such a massive
uproar.
Moreover, it was Remington himself who had rushed to Lizetta's rescue. For the past two days, she had remained unconscious, and he had stayed by her hospital bed without catching a single wink of sleep.
Yolanda wasn't made of stone. Seeing his devotion, she couldn't help but feel moved.
Listening to Yolanda recount the events, Lizetta instinctively glanced toward the hospital room door.
Noticing her eager, expectant gaze, Yolanda knew better than to overstay her welcome. She stood up.
"Alright, seeing that you're truly okay puts my mind at ease. I'm going back to catch up on my beauty sleep. I'm destined to be a massive star, and I look absolutely haggard."
Touching her face with a dramatic look of worry, she waved and left the room.
Lizetta smiled. She reached up and touched her own face, wondering if two days of unconsciousness had left her looking gaunt and pale.
With that thought, Lizetta tried to get out of bed. However, the moment her feet touched the floor, she realized just how incredibly weak a body could become after two days and nights without food.
Her legs gave out completely, and she pitched forward.
Instead of landing in an undignified heap on the floor, she was caught securely in a pair of strong arms.
Remington's tone was fond yet helpless. "I only stepped out for a moment, and my girlfriend is already misbehaving?"
As the man spoke, Lizetta found herself being lifted effortlessly into the air.
She looked up. Remington had clearly moved fast; he had managed to shower, change clothes, and even shave his face clean in the brief time he was away.
Perhaps his previous disheveled state had been too extreme, because seeing him looking so sharp now actually left Lizetta feeling a bit breathless.
She wrapped her arms around his neck and affectionately nuzzled against his shoulder.
"You're not mad at Yoli, are you?"
Remington raised an eyebrow. "Why would I be mad at her?"
Lizetta had just breathed a sigh of relief when he continued.
"She's nothing to me. I only get mad at my girlfriend."
His tone was dark, as if he were harboring an endless amount of frustration and grievance.
Lizetta pressed her lips together, fighting back a smile, and tilted her head slightly. "Your girlfriend just survived a near-death experience, and she's so cute and pretty. Can Mr. Dashiell really bear to stay mad at her?"
Watching her lively expression, all Remington could think about was the terrifying moment he had pulled her from the wreckage, completely unresponsive.
The image of her lying incredibly
pale on the hospital bed over the
past two days flashed before his
eyes again. The simple fact that she had woken up was the greatest blessing he could ask for. How could he possibly be angry with her?
He carried her to the bed and set her lightweight frame down gently before fixing his gaze on her.
"Yeah, just keep bullying me."
Lizetta felt another wave of amusement. Just as he set her down and pulled back to give her space, she hooked her arms around his neck again, pulled herself up and pressed her lips against his.
Her soft lips lingered against his in a gentle, brief kiss before she whispered.
"Making up for that kiss that got interrupted earlier..."
Remington's breathing deepened, his passion igniting almost instantly.
However, just as he was about to take control and deepen the kiss...
In a stroke of terrible timing, the hospital door was given two symbolic knocks before swinging open.
Jerome stood at the entrance, followed closely by a servant from Maple Cottage carrying an insulated food container.
Jerome clearly hadn't expected to walk in on them like this twice in a row.
He briefly wondered if there was something wrong with the way he was opening doors. He instinctively moved to turn around and shut it but Liza had already pushed Remington away, her face burning red.
"Jerome."
Remington, prioritizing Lizetta's fragile health despite his intense annoyance at the constant interruptions, spoke up.
"Come on in."
He stepped aside, gesturing for the servant to bring the food forward.
Since Lizetta hadn't eaten in two days, the servant had wanted to prepare a feast, but her stomach could only handle light fare right now.
The meal consisted of a comforting, stomach-soothing chicken soup, along with a few refreshing, simple side dishes.
Remington pulled up a chair next to the bed and personally fed Lizetta, spoonful by spoonful.
Jerome sat on the nearby sofa, and the servant lingered as well. Being doted on like a child with an audience left Lizetta feeling quite self-conscious.
