Chapter 1133

Shattered Illusions: Love, Lies, and Redemption · Lizetta

"How did he fall asleep right in the middle of laughing?"

Fiona smiled, lowering her voice to a whisper.

"Babies are just like that. But he certainly is attached to you..."

Looking at Lizetta and the peacefully sleeping infant nestled in her arms, a flicker of sorrow and wistfulness crossed Fiona's eyes.

She stood up and whispered to Remington.

"Take the baby and hold him. Lizetta shouldn't have to carry him the whole time; she'll get exhausted."

Remington was well-accustomed to his grandmother's orders and had long since accepted his reality.

In Fiona's eyes, he was at the very bottom of the totem pole.

First came Lizetta, then him, and now even little Ron outranked him.

However, Remington truly didn't want Lizetta to overexert herself. He stepped forward and leaned down to take the baby.

Lizetta whispered, "It's fine..."

"Let him hold the boy. It's good practice for him to learn how to take care of a baby; he'll need the skills in the future," Fiona added.

Lizetta felt like Fiona was subtly pressuring them to have a child. She looked up, her gaze colliding with Remington's.

The man's eyes were filled with amusement and a smoldering heat.

Lizetta shot him a subtle glare and looked away, though she didn't stop him from taking the baby.

As Remington took Ron into his arms, Lizetta added softly.

"Hold him and pat his back gently. Wait until he's in a deep sleep before putting him in the bed."

Remington nodded. "Got it."

Watching the two of them interact and care for the baby together, Fiona felt a bittersweet wave of relief. She nodded and said to Lizetta,

"Let the baby sleep peacefully. I'll head back to my room now."

Lizetta slipped out of bed and walked Fiona to the door.

Returning to her own room, Fiona sat on her bed in silence for a long moment before finally sighing to Tina.

"If only that child had been Joy... I don't know why, but looking at that boy, it feels like looking at Remington when he was little."

Tina was a veteran housekeeper who had been with the Dashiell family for years, and she had spent plenty of time caring for Remington during his childhood.

Hearing this, Tina agreed, "Their facial features do share a resemblance, but he smiles a lot more than Remington ever did at that age."

When Remington was a baby, Hanna Evert Dashiell had suffered from severe postpartum depression. She had insisted on caring for tim herselfand nearly suffocated the boy. Lacking proper affection Remington had grown up to be a child who rarely smiled.

"True. Ron is a bit more charming than Remington was. It's just a shame... sigh."

The child was wonderful in every way, but ultimately, he wasn't a Dashiell.

Knowing exactly what was weighing on Fiona's mind, Tina offered comforting words.

"Remington and Lizetta are still so young. Look at how inseparable they are right now. Are you really worried you won't have biological

great grandchildren to hold in the future? You'll probably have your

hands full with all of them

Fiona smiled, the heavy cloud of gloom over her heart lifting considerably as she nodded.

"You're right. Still, seeing Ron today really made me miss Remington's childhood. When we get back, pull out all the old photos and videos of Remington as a boy. I want to look through them with Lizetta later."

Tina cheerfully agreed without hesitation.

In the emergency room.

Stella hadn't even been able to stand up after tumbling down the escalator. The mall staff had eventually helped her into an ambulance.

The doctors treated her wounds and ran a series of tests. Fortunately, she had only suffered superficial injuries and had no broken bones or internal trauma.

Stella filed a police report, and the mall fully cooperated by providing the security footage from the time of the incident.

The footage clearly showed someone rushing up from behind, squeezing past people to get off the escalator, and colliding with Stella, which sent her tumbling down.

However, the person in question had been staring down at their phone the entire time, their pace rushed and erratic.
