Chapter 1151
Whispers filled the room, a chorus of shock and skepticism. The crowd had already passed judgment on Conrad West, clearly siding with Lizetta's version of events.
No one was foolish enough to ignore the glaring truth after the Porter family had gone to such desperate lengths.
Conrad, humiliated by the public execution of his character, flushed bright red. Driven by a volatile mix of shame and rage, he raised his voice.
"Liz, you can't drag your father's name through the mud like this! You snatched that car right out of Andrea's hands. The brake failure was a tragic accident! How could you suspect me? You are my only daughter. A father protects his own. I could never do something so horrific to you!"
Lizetta offered a saccharine smile and nodded. "Oh, so if you didn't do it, your wife did? And let me guess, was it also your wife who swapped me at birth?"
Conrad was speechless.
Instantly, all eyes shifted to Eartha Porter Madden.
The implications sent chills down everyone's spines.
Eartha's vision darkened. She had always maintained a stellar reputation in Tranquil Meadows.
When she donated a kidney to Elsa Madden, people praised her selflessness.
Even though her marriage to Conrad had sparked rumors, her devotion to Andrea and her sacrifice of biological motherhood had salvaged her image over the years. Basking in praise, she had genuinely started to believe her own saintly facade. But now, that beautiful mask was being violently ripped away, exposing a grotesque truth underneath. A violent shudder wracked Eartha's frame.
She swayed on her feet, her voice pitching into a shrill defense.
"I did no such thing! Lizetta, I know you despise me as your stepmother, but you can't hurl baseless
accusations at me
Conrad frantically supported her. "Quick, get a doctor!"
Eartha leaned heavily against him, playing the part of a swooning victim perfectly.
Conrad glared at Lizetta, his eyes wide with feigned heartbreak. "Liz, do you have any idea how much your stepmother's health has deteriorated since she donated that kidney to your mother? By last year, her remaining kidney started failing. She is incredibly sick! She even gave up her right to have children just to raise your mother's child.
Even if you were swapped at birth, she had no idea! The daughter she doted on all
these years was supposed to be you.
Even if you hate her, you owe her basic respect.
If not for her, then for your mother's sake! This is pure betrayal!
I know you've had a hard life and developed a cynical edge, but you..."
"Hold on, I've heard enough," Remington Dashiell cut in, his tone sharp and commanding. "Liz might have been lost to her family, but she was raised by my grandmother She is gentle, modest, serene, k kind, exceptionally generous, and
remarkably genuine..."
Lizetta listened as the man beside her rattled off an endless stream of flattering adjectives.
Left unchecked, he sounded ready to shower her with every compliment in the English dictionary.
Under the weight of everyone's stares, it was simply too much.
Her cheeks flushed with heat as she shot Remington a warning glare.
