Janice’s smile deepened, her eyes twinkling with a teasing ambiguity. “What if we turned this act into something real and became an actual couple?”
Aiden’s eyes narrowed, his heart skipping a beat in shock. “What are you suggesting?”
“Just as I said.” Her eyes lingered on the backyard as a small smile played on her lips. “You’re capable and handsome, and most importantly, I feel comfortable with you. Choosing you seems like a reasonable decision.”
“Huh.” Aiden fiddled with the bracelet on his wrist, his expression turning stormy. “You’re flirting with danger—you know that, right?”
Janice shrugged. “Won’t you think it over? You said yes to this partnership, so it must mean something, doesn’t it?”
“Enough!” Aiden closed his eyes, taking a moment to gather his thoughts before he spoke again, his voice firm. “We are merely business partners. Once I acquire the shares, our association ends.”
“Very well, if that’s your wish.” Janice rose from her seat, her gaze playful as she looked down at Aiden. “The joint venture between Delgado Jewelry and Freak Design should proceed without a hitch. During the celebration, I’ll find a way to get Kenneth to talk.”
Aiden offered no response, his expression unreadable.
Casting a final look over her shoulder, Janice paused at the doorway, her voice tinged with a hint of warning. “Aiden, make sure you have no regrets.”
Her words hung heavily in the air, leaving Aiden momentarily lost in thought. Was she hinting at regret over not making their pretense a reality, or was it about allowing her to approach Kenneth?
Restlessness seized Aiden. He glanced down at the bracelet encircling his wrist, seeking solace in its familiarity, but found his emotions churning wildly instead.

Meanwhile, Carman returned home, his mind brimming with creative energy. He shut himself in his room, immersing himself in the world of music. The sounds of piano keys and his occasional bursts of laughter filtered through the door.
“I did it!” Clutching the freshly penned sheet music, he quickly dialed Delilah’s number. “The new song is ready. Let’s get it out there as soon as we can. This time, I’m set to stir up the music world once again.”
“This is great, Delilah! My new song is finally done!”
After staying up all night, Carman burst out of his room in excitement. Although he looked unkempt, with his overgrown beard and bloodshot eyes, his energy was through the roof.
“I’ve been putting it off for so long, but I finally finished writing my new song. It’s going to be another chart-topping sensation, and pretty soon, everyone will be talking about it. When that happens, Vernon can only drown in his regrets.”
Delilah was initially taken aback by Carman’s sudden frenzy, but she smiled when she found out the reason behind it. “I always believed in you, Carman. You simply lacked inspiration, hence your recent slump. Now that you’ve found it, the music just flowed out of you, didn’t it? You truly are a genius, Carman.”
