Chapter 289
Chapter 289:
“One more thing—Edwards Group has partnered with Mendoza Group. Should we do anything about it?” Prescott asked.
The news didn’t surprise Janice. Instead, it confirmed where Delilah’s newfound confidence was coming from. “No, we’ll just sit back and watch the drama unfold.”
Just then, a knock came at her door.
Janice put away her phone and opened the door to find Aiden sitting in his wheelchair.
“I’ve prepared evening gowns for you. You might want to try some on,” he said flatly, and Janice curled her lips into a smile.
“It’s just a simple company banquet, Aiden. Aren’t you being a bit too rigorous about it?”
“It doesn’t matter. You’re my wife. You can’t look too shabby.”
“Fine, then take me to them,” Janice replied with a cheeky smile, clasping her hands behind her back as she walked briskly toward him.
Her smile caught Aiden off guard. He caught the subtle scent of her elegant perfume as she drew near, making him blush slightly without even realizing it.
Janice hadn’t realized just how seriously Aiden was taking the celebration banquet.
As soon as she entered the fitting room, a team of stylists rolled out racks upon racks of evening gowns.
Red, blue, yellow… The colors were so vivid they could’ve formed a rainbow. The quality of the dresses was exceptional, including some of her own designs.
“Are you serious, Aiden?” Janice turned to him, suspicion in her eyes as he followed her in. “Given our history, don’t you think this is a bit excessive?”
Aiden remained nonchalant, playing with the bracelet on his wrist. “It’s all for the Green family’s pride.”
Janice rolled her eyes and flipped him off. “Right, all for the Green family’s pride. Here I thought you actually wanted me to look stunning.”

Aiden lowered his gaze, and his fingers twitched before he regained his calm. “Try them on. I’ve already bought all of them. Choose whichever one you prefer.”
Janice walked over to the gowns, skipping past her own designs. While they were top-tier, she had grown tired of them after seeing them so many times.
Noticing her disregard for JE’s creations, Aiden raised an eyebrow. “Don’t you like JE’s designs?”
Janice replied without hesitation, “They’re made by my best friend, so I’ve seen them too often. They don’t excite me anymore.”
“Remove all of JE’s dresses,” Aiden ordered the staff, surprising even Janice with his quick decision. To an outsider, it might have seemed like he was completely at her beck and call.
The stylists, ever professional, cleared out all of JE’s designs without hesitation.
There were quite a few of them. Aiden had likely assumed that, as JE’s best friend, Janice would cherish the designs. However, reality didn’t match his assumptions.
After much deliberation, Janice finally chose a light blue gown. Its flowing hem billowed like soft clouds, and the delicate lace detailing on the sleeves and neckline added an air of ethereal sophistication.
The gown was impeccably tailored, accentuating Janice’s elegant figure flawlessly. Its understated embellishments emphasized her natural beauty.
“How do I look?” Janice asked, twirling gracefully in front of Aiden.
