Feeling defeated, Demi returned to where Carlton was standing. Her visibly upset demeanor tugged at Carlton’s heartstrings.
“Demi, don’t let Daniel get to you,” Carlton reassured her. “I actually hoped to be paired with you, but alas…”
Demi sighed, her despondent expression striking a chord with Carlton.
For her, the outcome was set. Nothing could change the pairing, so she decided to win Carlton’s favor.
