“Exactly! The Welch family’s businesses span nationwide, resting on a robust foundation. They maintain their relevance and instill intimidation by having someone constantly stir up trouble. Alissa believes she can act without consequences, but in reality, she’s merely a pawn. Once she’s no longer useful, she’ll be easily discarded,” Janice explained, her gaze intense. “Yet, Mateo is quite the strategist. As we face the Welch family head-on, he will be our most formidable opponent.”

Even though Alissa was merely a pawn, Janice’s recent demands had significantly dented the Welch family’s pride. However, Mateo’s response had been surprisingly accommodating, agreeing to her demands without any apparent hesitation.

Adapting swiftly to circumstances made him a challenging adversary. Janice wished the Welch family had been more arrogant, rejecting her demands outright, which would have made them easier to manipulate.

She reached Stephen’s room, checking to ensure he was alone before slipping inside. Moments later, she emerged clutching a black opaque bag, the contents hidden from view. Her face tense, Delilah looked around to confirm she was still unobserved, then proceeded toward Janice’s room.

Meanwhile, Demi, having woken from a nap thirsty, stepped out to fetch some water. Just as she left her room, she caught Delilah sneaking out of Janice’s room.
