Aiden gave a slight nod, acknowledging the update.
His drenched hair clung to his forehead, a thick blanket draped over his shoulders, yet his mind was elsewhere. His gaze, heavy with concern, settled on Janice beside him.
Janice lay still, her eyes closed as she breathed through an oxygen mask. She was meant to be taken to the hospital, but she refused.
Braylen frowned as he glanced at Aiden and Janice, worry tightening his chest. They were both badly burned and had inhaled too much smoke.
They should have been at the hospital for treatment, but they insisted on staying. If things went wrong, how would he face Aiden’s parents…?
“Braylen, you should go back and calm my parents,” Aiden said in a serious tone. “Janice and I have things to take care of.”
“Right away!” Braylen, still anxious, understood there was no changing Aiden’s mind once he’d made it up.
He could only go and ease Aiden’s parents’ worries, who were probably already informed about the live broadcast incident and deeply concerned.
At that moment, Janice’s eyes fluttered open, and she removed the oxygen mask, her look icy. “Aiden…”
“I know! No need to say more.” Aiden gripped Janice’s hand tightly. “Whatever you need, I’ve got your back.”
Janice looked at Aiden, her gaze softening. “Okay, I need to take care of things with him now.”
“Do you know where Leonidas is?” Aiden asked, his brow furrowed in confusion.

“He enjoys watching his targets suffer from a distance. He’s definitely nearby, watching,” Janice answered, her eyes settling on a villa nearby. The villa was roughly a hundred meters away—just the right distance for Leonidas to indulge in his twisted desire to watch.
Janice and Aiden hurried to the villa, but by the time they arrived, it was empty.
Inside the living room, Janice found two wine glasses and a bottle of red wine on the table.
She picked up a glass and gently swirled it, the red wine reflecting her cold face. “Just missed him.”
“Leonidas is clever, sensing your every move,” Aiden said, walking over to the window and staring at the house burning in the distance.
Janice didn’t respond immediately and instead turned to face Aiden. “I’ll get even with him. But…”
Her expression softened with worry. “Are you in pain?”
“It’s nothing,” Aiden said with a faint smile, his lips barely curving.
Janice took his hands, flipping them over to expose several unsettling scars. “This is nothing?”
“As long as you’re alright, I’m fine,” Aiden replied, pulling his hands back with a soft smile. “I’m just glad you’re here, safe, with me.”
Janice’s heart skipped a beat. Without warning, she grabbed his collar and kissed him.
Aiden’s eyes went wide with shock and disbelief. It felt like a dream, yet the cool softness of her lips was undeniably real.
