Chapter 88:

At this moment, Colson set Lowell’s proposal on the table, tapping it lightly with a hint of disapproval etching his brow deeply. “This has to be one of the most disgraceful proposals I’ve ever encountered.”

“What?” Lowell’s voice cracked, surprise and disbelief mingling in his outburst.

Heads turned in his direction, and in that moment, the authorship of the proposal seemed irrevocably tied to Edwards Group.

“So, Mr. Edwards, are you outright labeling Forest Corp as insignificant?” Colson’s sneer was cold and pointed, his eyes cutting sharply through the room. “Presenting such a mediocre proposal here is utterly disrespectful of our time.”

“Mr. Navarro, there’s clearly been a misunderstanding,” Connor interjected hastily, his face flushed with confusion. “Our proposals have always received accolades for their excellence!”

Colson simply shook his head, his patience evidently worn thin, and signaled his assistant with a glance.

The assistant promptly lifted the document and circulated it among the other CEOs and delegates for scrutiny.

“What is this? It’s utterly unprofessional!”

“Absolutely! This bid proposal is a mess—so many errors, and even the pricing is ridiculous. How could they dare submit this for consideration?”

“Seriously? I used to think Edwards Group was a serious contender.”

The crowd scrutinized the bid proposal, their faces twisted in disapproval.

They had once viewed Edwards Group as a strong competitor. However, this proposal diminished all such perceptions, rendering it unworthy of any rivalry.

At that moment, the document found its way into Greg’s hands. He skimmed through it briefly and let out a sardonic laugh. “You can’t be serious, Mr. Edwards. Was this mess drafted by an intern? If you weren’t serious about the project, you could’ve spared us all the trouble and said so. Wasting our time like this is pathetic.”

“What are you implying, Mr. Dury? This proposal was personally crafted by my son. Are you suggesting it’s the work of some ghostwriting intern?” Connor’s voice was steeped in anger, yet a pang of doubt gnawed at him internally.

Beside him, Lowell kept his head down, his cheeks burning as he evaded the critical eyes that surrounded them.

What went wrong?

How could his meticulously prepared proposal be dismissed as worse than an intern’s work?

“Mr. Edwards, I suggest you take a look for yourself.” Greg extended the proposal towards him.

Connor accepted the bid proposal, casting a brief glance over the document. His expression darkened rapidly, his cheeks flushing a deep crimson with rage.

With a sharp flick of his wrist, he flung the proposal at Lowell. “You actually wasted an entire night on this mess? Unbelievable.”

“Dad, what seems to be the issue with it?” Lowell, looking perplexed, stooped to retrieve the pages scattered at his feet. He scrutinized the document, convinced it mirrored his usual thorough work.

“Really, I should have reviewed it myself beforehand. I placed too much trust in you, and now, it’s made me look like a fool.” Fury surged within Connor, his chest tightening.

Painfully, Lowell’s previous submissions had set a high bar. However, this latest effort was rife with errors—a glaring difference.
