Chapter 514

"What does Mr. Walker want with this land?" Yvonne asked instinctively.

"What do you think?" Bennett asked with a smile.

Yvonne paused for a moment, then she suddenly recalled the investigation into Colin's case years ago. The Gonzalez family's transportation company had gone bankrupt and been seized, but the profits from smuggling were enormous. It seemed Mr. Walker wasn't willing to give that up.

Thinking about the land's prime geographical location, Yvonne finally understood. Seeing that she seemed to grasp the situation, Bennett smiled.

Mr. Walker actually wanted to use a fool like Eden to drag the Thompson family into his dirty business.

In the end, Eden won the land for a price of ten billion.

On stage, the auctioneer was congratulating Eden on becoming the new owner of

the property, but Eden's face showed no trace of joy.

Ten billion was far beyond his budget; he would probably have to sell off other assets to raise the funds.

As the auction concluded, people began to leave.

Bennett, holding Yvonne's hand, ran into Eden and his entourage at the exit. "Bennett, what a coincidence," Eden said first, his eyes subtly sizing up Yvonne. Young, beautiful, and fresh. Indeed, someone Yolanda couldn't compare to. But to give up the support of the Walker family for a woman was a foolish trade.

"Congratulations, Mr. Monroe," Bennett replied with a smile that didn't reach his

eyes.

Eden's expression soured. Acquiring the land for three billion over budget was hardly something to celebrate.

But Eden was composed. His face quickly returned to a neutral expression as he changed the subject. “Grandma is sick and still in the hospital. You should visit her when you have time."

"I've been quite busy lately, so I probably won't be able to make it. Please give her a message for me. Tell her that at her age, she should focus on her health and cultivate her spirit; insatiable greed shortens one's life."

Bennett said slowly and deliberately.

His words left Eden pale with anger, speechless for a long moment.

Just then, a black Audi pulled up.

The car stopped at the bottom of the steps, and a window rolled down, revealing Yolanda's perfectly made-up face.

Yolanda hadn't expected to see Bennett, and her eyes locked onto him, filled with a mixture of grievance and resentment.

Seeing Yolanda, Eden smiled and walked over, his tall frame blocking her view of Bennett.

Yolanda had no choice but to look away and get out of the car.

"Did you come especially to pick me up?" Eden wrapped an arm around her waist,

a deliberately intimar

gesture made for Bennett's benefit.

Even though Bennett had given marriage alliance with the Walker family for this little actress men

were all the a

same;

they alwa

wanted what they couldn't have.

With his arm around Yolanda, Eden was sure Bennett wouldn't be completely indifferent.

But Bennett didn't even lift an eyelid. He simply took Yvonne's hand and walked right past them.

After they were gone, Yolanda

frowned and shoved Eden's hand off her waist. "Did you get the land? “Did she asked coldly.

SWO

Eden nodded. “Don't worry. When he asks me to do something, I always get it done."

"Good." With that, Yolanda turned to get back in the car.

To her surprise, Eden opened the other door and sat down right next to her.

“Don't you have your own car? What are you doing in mine?" Yolanda snapped, wishing she could throw him out.

"Mr. Walker said you were free tonight. How about we catch a movie and have dinner together?" Eden suggested.

Yolanda looked utterly unwilling, but Eden had already invoked Mr. Walker's name, leaving her no room to refuse.
