Chapter 929

"It's natural to worry when you care so much. I understand," Yvonne Jones responded with a warm smile.

Bennett Thompson smiled back, his grip on the steering wheel loosening slightly.

Back at their home in Cherry Apartment, Helen had already prepared lunch, the table laden with all of Yvonne's favorite dishes.

"Is the check-up done? What did the doctor say?" Helen asked.

"The results of the prenatal screening will take a few days. They'll only call us if there's a problem," Yvonne replied.

"There won't be any problems," Helen said at once. "You and Mr. Thompson are both young, and neither of your families has a history of Down syndrome. I've heard it's usually genetic or occurs in older couples."

"You know quite a lot, Helen,” Yvonne replied with a smile.

"I've had children of my own, and I worked as a nanny when I was younger, so I've picked up a thing or two," Helen answered.

Yvonne and Bennett changed their clothes, washed their hands, and had lunch together.

The dishes Helen prepared were all of Yvonne's favorites, and her appetite was quite good. She ended up eating a little too much again.

After the meal, Yvonne took Bullet downstairs for a walk in the sun.

Due to her pregnancy, she hadn't been interacting with Bullet much lately, only occasionally taking him for a short walk downstairs.

The moment they were outside, Bullet started to frolic, running back and forth across the community lawn.

Bennett returned to his base after lunch. He had only taken the morning off to accompany Yvonne to her prenatal appointment and had a lot of work to deal with in the afternoon.

After Bennett returned to the base, he didn't come back until the evening of the next day.

That evening, the patriarch asked the family to come over for dinner.

The family patriarch usually lived alone, and at his age, he sometimes missed his children and grandchildren.

Bennett took Yvonne to the military compound.

They arrived rather late; everyone else was already there.

Frank Thompson and his wife, Emma Moore, had arrived that morning. Frank had even played chess with the patriarch all morning, with both winning and losing some games.

Dana had also arrived early and, along with Emma, had made arrangements for lunch and dinner.

However, the patriarch had his own chef and housekeeper, so they didn't need to cook. The two of them just sat and chatted in the living room.

The news of Cynthia Scott and Noah Thompson's impending divorce had reached all the elders, and Dana was worried sick.

Her son was wonderful in every way, except that he was soft-hearted and easily swayed. She had given custody of Nicola to the White family precisely because she wanted to cut all ties with them.

But now, Noah was being manipulated by them, causing turmoil in his own household.

Compared to Dana, Emma's life was much more comfortable. Her son, Bennett, was already independent and capable, widely recognized as a promising young man with a boundless future.

Her only dissatisfaction was that he had married a daughter-in-law she didn't approve of. But the

daughter-in-law was well-behaved and sensible never causing any trouble, and was respectful to her as a mother-in-law. Now, she was about to give her grandchildren.

In the past, there was also that old hag, the Thompson matriarch, who used to make her life miserable. Ever since the senior Mrs. Thompson had passed away and Eden Monroe was imprisoned, it felt as if a burden Emma had carried for years had suddenly been lifted.

Her life was so wonderful now that she could wake up smiling from her dreams.

Tobias Thompson also had work that day and only came over in the evening. Noah arrived even later than his father, and he came alone.

Cynthia seemed determined to divorce Noah. She had already contacted a lawyer and even had the divorce papers drawn up.

Naturally, Noah wouldn't agree. And as long as he refused, the divorce couldn't proceed smoothly, so it was just dragging on.
