“More,” I said softly, my voice muffled against his chest.

Abel chuckled under his breath. “I already told you a lot, angel,” he muttered. “My childhood isn’t that interesting. Why won’t you tell me about yours instead?”

I tilted my head up to look at him. His face was relaxed, the glow from the bedside lamp falling over his features in a way that made him look younger. The two of us were currently in his bed, sharing stories after a long, hot shower together.

“I’m sure you already know a lot about my childhood,” I teased lightly, a small smile tugging at my lips. “You asked Marcel and Tony, didn’t you?”

His brows arched.

I laughed softly. “Marcel told me.” Get full chapters from Find★Novel.net

Abel sighed, dragging a hand through his hair. “Remind me to deal with her later.”

“Don’t,” I giggled. “I like that you were curious.”

He exhaled, the corners of his mouth twitching upward. “Curious,” he repeated under his breath.

We lay there in silence for a few moments.

“What else do you want to know?” he murmured eventually.

I tilted my chin up and asked, “Your first love?”

He paused and didn’t respond. With that, I narrowed my eyes and pursed my lips before muttering, “You like her that much, huh?”

Still, no answer.

Then, quietly, he sighed. “You.”

“What?”

His eyes met mine. “You,” he repeated.

I frowned, unsure if he was teasing me. “That can’t be,” I said.

He raised a brow. “Why can’t you believe it?”

“Because…” I hesitated, tracing my fingers along his chest absentmindedly. “You’re so good,” I whispered.

“Huh?” he said.

“How are you so good in bed?” I blurted out before my brain could stop me.

His ears turned red instantly, and he groaned, covering his face with one hand. “Luna.”

“What?” I said, biting my lip to hold back a laugh.

I propped myself up on one elbow and gave him a teasing smile. “So, the first time we did it was your first time?”

He cleared his throat and didn’t answer again, which only made my curiosity grow.

My lips parted in surprise. “Wait, it was?”

He stayed silent, but his reaction said everything.

“Oh my goodness.” I pressed a hand to my mouth. “I took your virginity?”

Abel gave me a pointed look, but his ears betrayed him–they were crimson.

“I can’t believe it,” I whispered. My face heated up. “You were untouched.”

Granted, I was, too, but that was pretty expected.

“Stop thinking about it,” he muttered, flicking my forehead gently.

“Ow,” I laughed, rubbing the spot. “Sorry, sorry.”

He sighed, though the corner of his mouth curved slightly.

After a while, I tucked myself back into his arms, my cheek against his chest.

“Can I ask one more question?” I whispered.

“Another one?” he murmured, amusement heard in his voice.

“Yes.”

He sighed. “Go ahead, angel.”

“How about your family?”

The moment the words left my mouth, I felt his body tense.

His hand, which had been brushing through my hair, froze mid–motion. I lifted my head, confused by the sudden stillness.

“Abel?” I said softly.

He was silent, and I realized he was uncomfortable. I brushed my thumb along his arm gently, trying to ease whatever storm I had accidentally stirred.

“You don’t have to answer if you don’t want to,” I muttered softly. I hated how my curiosity could sometimes dig into wounds he wasn’t ready to show me.

“It’s fine,” he said finally. He tightened his hold around my waist, pulling me closer. “They’re not my family.”

I tilted my head slightly to look up at him. His eyes were distant, locked on something far beyond the walls of his room.

“My family was gone the moment my parents were,” he said quietly. “My family here never considered me as such.”

He exhaled through his nose. “They’re a headache, honestly.”

He rubbed small circles into my back. “They’ll do anything to stop me,” he said after a long pause. “And that includes harming you.”

My heart froze. The thought hadn’t fully hit me until then. I’d always known being with Abel came with risks.

“Is that why you kept me here?” I asked quietly.

“Yes,” he muttered after a beat. “I won’t lock you in here if it weren’t for them.”

I looked at his hands resting on my waist. I thought it would be better now that we loved each other; however, it was clear that it was far from over.

We stayed like that for a while–tangled together, our hearts speaking in the silence.

Then, suddenly, he reached for my hair and brushed it behind my ear. “Do you want to go out tomorrow?”

“Huh?” I asked, caught off guard.

“To the training grounds,” he muttered, clearing his throat. “Tyson and I are going to lead some training sessions.”

I stared at him. “But… how about your family?”

He pursed his lips, so I reckoned he wasn’t comfortable with the idea.

“It’s okay. I can just stay here-”

“I can just protect you,” he said, cutting me off gently.

He looked into my eyes when he said it.

He brushed his thumb along my cheek, reading the worry I couldn’t hide. “You’ve been locked in this place for too long,” he murmured. “You don’t know how much I want to show you off to the world.”

“I realized I can’t just keep you inside here forever. You’re stronger than you look, I know. Sometimes, I’m even scared of you.”

A small smile tugged on my lips.

“So, I think it’s finally time that you get to see my pack.”
