"It's just a small cut," Stewart said, brushing it off. "How are things with you and Stella?"

"About the same," Cedric sighed. "Are you here to visit my wife?”

"No."

Cedric blinked. "...?"

Stewart's lips curved into a smile. “I'm here to see Bryn.”

Cedric rolled his eyes in disdain. "Oh, give me a break. She doesn't want to see you. You should just leave before she gets angry. My wife can't stand to see her upset, and when that happens, I'm the one who pays the price!"

Stewart just smiled faintly. "That won't happen."

Yeah, right, Cedric thought, figuring Stewart was just being shameless. He pushed the door open, throwing his hands up as he walked in to declare his innocence. "For the record, I didn't bring him here! He showed up uninvited, so this has nothing to do with me!"

Hearing his voice, Briony, who was in the middle of peeling an apple, paused and turned toward the door. When she saw Stewart, she gave a small, calm smile. “Is your IV done already?"

"Yes," Stewart replied, his own smile warm as he walked over. He glanced at Stella on the bed and nodded. “Feeling any better?"

"Much better, thank you for asking,” Stella replied. Her tone was completely different from her usual pointedness toward him. She even added, "Is your hand okay?"

"It's just a flesh wound. It'll heal."

The sudden atmosphere of harmony left Cedric completely baffled. What he didn't know was that Briony had already told Stella everything that had happened the night before. Stella had been shocked, and seeing the bandages on Stewart's hand now cemented a complete change of heart toward him.

Besides, everyone had seen the changes and sacrifices Stewart had made for Briony recently. Their history was a tangled mess of misunderstandings and cruel twists of fate, but they had also shared life-and-death

decade of love and hate had passed between them. How many decades does a person get in a lifetime? With two children together, cutting ties was impossible. So, if they couldn't let go, why not give each other another chance?

Stella was genuinely happy for Briony. After all the storms and hardships, it seemed a happy ending was finally within reach. The bitterness was finally giving way to sweetness.

Cedric pulled Stewart out of the room. "Alright, Stewart, spill it. What's the situation with you and Briony now?"

Stewart maintained a cool expression, but the slight arch of his brow betrayed his cheerful mood. "Xenia Cooper and I never got our marriage license."

Cedric's jaw dropped. "What?!"

"Last night, Xenia met with Bryn,"

Stewart explained, a smug smile playing on his lips. He clapped Cedric's shoulder with his bandaged hand, not bothering to hide his satisfaction. "She explained our arrangement and even orchestrated an accident. Because of that, the rift between Bryn and me has finally been mended."

Cedric stared at him, dumbfounded. "So, you two are... back together?" Stewart paused, the word 'probationary' echoing in his mind. A man has his pride, after all. He sidestepped the question. "I'm staying at Pearbrook Mansion now."

It took Cedric a few seconds to process that. He swatted Stewart's hand away and rolled his eyes. "Oh, so you can't answer directly. That means you're not officially back together yet!"

Stewart was speechless.

Seeing his reaction, Cedric knew he'd hit the nail on the head. Never one to miss a chance to stir the pot, he clapped Stewart on the shoulder again Dude, don't get cocky just yet. Let me remind you, women have a way of bringing up the past. At least still have a marriage certificate What about you? Do you? Has your dear Briony even agreed to remarry you?"

Stewart had no comeback.
