Chapter 104
Chapter 104:
“I thought you looked familiar earlier,” he remarked, his eyes lighting up with recognition. “You’re Fernanda Morgan, aren’t you?”
Fernanda’s brow arched slightly in surprise. She never knew she had become this popular.
“I’ve seen your picture on the university’s website,” he explained with a bright smile. “I’m a junior at Esaham University.” Fernanda gave a polite nod. “Hello.”
“What brings you out here?” he asked, his eyes flickering briefly to her crutch. “Do you need help getting home?”
“No, I’m just taking a moment to rest,” she said, rising carefully with her crutch. “Thank you for the umbrella, but it’s nearly noon. I should be heading back.”
The young man nodded, watching her wave down a taxi. He raised his hand in farewell as she climbed inside.
It wasn’t until the taxi disappeared that he leaned back, a quiet chuckle escaping his lips. “She’s not much for conversation,” he murmured, amused. “Keeps her cards close, doesn’t she?”
After a moment of thought, his expression brightened. He pulled out his phone, typing a quick message: “Hey, Neal, I just spotted Fernanda. She’s stunning. Looks like she’ll be Miss Esaham for the next beauty pageant!”
Fernanda returned to find the Morgan family gathered around the dining table.
“Fernanda, you’re just in time. Come join us for dinner,” Robert said, his rare tone of familial warmth catching Fernanda off guard.
“I’ve already eaten,” Fernanda replied, her tone polite but distant. The memory of her earlier meal still sat heavily in her stomach.
“Then at least sit with us. There’s something I need to discuss with you,” Robert insisted.

After a brief hesitation, Fernanda crossed the room and took a seat. Robert’s eyes followed her as if she were a rare artifact worth admiring, his smile as bright and unsettling as midday sun.
“I met Bobby’s father today,” Robert began, his voice laden with deliberate emphasis. “He mentioned he hasn’t seen you in a while and plans to invite you to their home soon.”
Fernanda’s brow furrowed slightly. She distinctly remembered seeing Bobby’s father at her celebration party not long ago.
“I’m glad that you get along with Bobby,” Robert continued, his tone slipping into earnest counsel. “But you should spend more time with his family. Building rapport with his parents is essential. His mother might not fully understand your qualities yet, and there may be some misunderstandings. You need to work on winning her over, don’t you think?”
Fernanda’s initial curiosity about the “something important” Robert wanted to discuss dissolved into a cold realization. This was no more than another lecture.
Her lips curled into a faint, sardonic smile as she listened in silence.
