Chapter 189
Chapter 189:
Fernanda sighed, a hint of distraction in her voice. “I’m dealing with some personal issues at the moment. But honestly, I don’t think you need to look for anyone else. You two are more than capable. You’re more skilled than you think. Don’t sell yourselves short.”
Levi was grateful for Fernanda’s vote of confidence, yet he remained aware of their limitations. They were up against Nimbus, the region’s top player, and his optimism was fading fast.
“It’s not just about how good you are,” Fernanda continued, her voice firm. “It’s about your attitude too. Even the best have their bad days. Remember, at the beginning of each game, it’s anybody’s game, right? Just because you’re facing the top player doesn’t mean defeat is certain.”
“You know, Fernanda, we’re really up against the region’s top player,” Levi conceded.
“Well, take the challenge head-on. I have a good feeling about this. Trust yourself,” Fernanda urged, her encouragement unwavering.
Levi and Alex remained glued to the screen, their hearts heavy. It wasn’t that they doubted Fernanda’s words; it was their own belief in themselves that was lacking.
“If you really fall short this time, I’ll be there to help you next time. How does that sound?” Once more, Fernanda’s message buzzed through with a mix of encouragement and challenge. “Don’t shy away. Tell me, are the students of esteemed Esaham University’s esports program truly this faint-hearted? What’s with the hesitation?”
“Seriously, Alex, this is unbearable,” Levi burst out, thumping his fist against the table with a resounding thud. “Fernanda’s new here, and we can’t give her the impression that we’re faint-hearted, can we? She’d never let us live it down.”
With a quick, firm nod, Alex agreed. “You’re exactly right.”
“I’ve made my decision. I’m taking the plunge myself,” Levi announced, briskly rolling up his sleeves as his resolve hardened. “Even if we face defeat, what’s the worst that can happen? We get taunted by that kid once more? It’s trivial. Facing off against the top player is exhilarating, regardless of the outcome.”
“You know, now that you’ve brought it up, I’m fired up to take a crack at it too,” Alex chimed in, his eyes alight with fierce determination as he faced Levi.

“I’ll lead the charge, and you can follow up in the next round,” Levi suggested, deftly navigating to the game interface.
Amidst the flood of Fourteen’s taunting remarks, Levi, his focus unshakable, calmly responded, “Let’s start the game.”
Fourteen switched eagerly to spectator mode, stepping aside to let the one-on-one battle unfold.
Watching his phone screen with a smirk curling his lips, Fourteen was poised to revel in their expected downfall. Having Nimbus, the region’s top player, in his corner left no room for doubt; Nimbus was a guaranteed win.
The idea of Nimbus losing to two students? It was downright ludicrous. As a result, Fourteen was taken aback when the top player suffered a defeat.
