Chapter 231:

Fernanda gave a small nod. “Sure.”

She was done with looking at Robert’s face.

Robert, though clearly frustrated, had no choice but to bite his tongue and hold it in.

The night breeze brushed past the three, cool and refreshing.

Away from the noise of the bustling room, the world seemed peaceful and serene, offering a rare moment of calm.

Bobby opened the car door and let Fernanda slide in first. Cristian followed right behind, and they drove toward the seaside.

“I’m going down to catch the breeze,” Bobby said as he parked the car. He needed some time to sort through his jumbled thoughts about tonight’s events.

As he sat on a rock by the sea, the salty wind helped clear his mind. Before long, he noticed someone approaching. He turned to see it was Fernanda.

The wind tousled her hair, unveiling her delicate features. Her usual aloofness melted away, replaced by a subtle blush that added an unexpected, endearing touch to her beauty.

“Thank you for today,” Fernanda said quietly, her voice warm as the breeze danced around it. “I’m sorry for keeping my identity from you for so long. If you’re upset, feel free to take out your frustration on me.”

“Upset? Why would I be upset?” Bobby laughed, though he wasn’t sure if he was mocking himself or something else entirely.

“Cristian did tell me something about you, but I didn’t believe it,” Bobby continued. “At that family banquet, when he said you were my fiancée, I thought he was just joking. I didn’t take him seriously. Then, as I spent more time with you, I started noticing all these coincidences. Looking back now, it was like wherever the famous Miss Morgan was, you were always right there, too. I used to brush it off as coincidence, but now… I see how wrong I was.”

Cristian had dropped hints time and again, but Bobby never took them seriously. It turned out he had been right all along.

“I should’ve been honest with you,” Fernanda said. “But I liked the way things were between us, and I was afraid revealing who I really am might ruin it.”

“And now? What do you think?” Bobby asked, his gaze intense as he narrowed his eyes at her.

“I don’t think it will affect how we get along,” Fernanda said confidently.

Bobby wasn’t the type to overanalyze or hold onto grudges.

More importantly, he had someone he cared about—Fernanda.

Fernanda’s engagement to him was essentially a formality. As long as they didn’t let it define them, there was no reason for any awkwardness.

Bobby laughed, shaking his head. “You really understand me, Fernanda.”

Fernanda smiled as well, her expression radiant, like a sprite dancing by the sea.

Bobby scratched his head, looking a bit embarrassed. “I’m lucky you don’t take my past words seriously. I was an idiot back then. Just ignore all the nonsense I said—I swear I’ll only sing your praises from now on.”

He had once looked down on Fernanda because she was just a country girl. Now, realizing that the fiancée he had so carelessly belittled was the woman he admired, Bobby felt the overwhelming urge to sink into the ground from sheer embarrassment.
