Chapter 254:

“Got it. Thanks for the heads-up,” Fernanda replied, turning to head back to her dorm.

After a couple of steps, she paused, turned around, and asked, “By the way, how did you show up here out of nowhere?”

Bobby ran a hand through his hair, his gaze darting anywhere but at Fernanda.

She caught on immediately; he must’ve come to see Wendy. There was no other reason he’d look this awkward.

She decided not to press further. Whatever it was, it was between him and Wendy.

She continued walking, noticing that Bobby didn’t trail behind this time.

When Fernanda returned to the dorm, Wendy was at her desk, fingers flying across the keyboard as she messaged someone.

The sound of the door opening made Wendy glance briefly, but recognizing it was Fernanda, she didn’t bother with a greeting.

“What are you doing?” Fernanda asked, her tone light and curious.

“Dealing with a lunatic. It’s driving me insane,” Wendy replied irritably. It was clear Wendy was in a foul mood from her sharp tone, though Fernanda knew it wasn’t aimed at her. She figured Bobby had something to do with it.

“What’s his deal?” Fernanda asked. “Did he do something to tick you off?”

“Him? Provoke me? No way!” Wendy replied, dropping her phone onto the table with a thud before grabbing her cigarettes and heading to the balcony.

The moment she lit up, Wendy’s eyes landed on Bobby standing below. From their second-floor dorm, his figure was impossible to miss. “What a pain, honestly,” she muttered before stepping back into the room.

Fernanda raised an eyebrow. “What’s got you so worked up?”

Normally, Wendy wasn’t the type to complain. But today, perhaps because what she was dealing with felt particularly overwhelming, she couldn’t hold it in any longer.

“I switched my job,” Wendy began. “I couldn’t take it at the old bar anymore—he’d show up every single day to bug me. It was unbearable.”

Fernanda nodded quietly, encouraging her to go on.

“I started at a new bar yesterday, and guess what? He showed up there today! The guy’s clearly out of his mind. During the busiest time, he got on stage and sang a love song to me.” Wendy fixed Fernanda with a serious look. “Fernanda, have you ever heard music so bad it’s practically torture?”

Fernanda was at a loss for words.

“It was terrible… like, the worst thing I’ve ever heard,” Wendy groaned. “Do you have any idea how humiliating that was? My first day, and Bobby’s on stage butchering a love song in front of a packed crowd. He couldn’t hit a single note. The owner even joked that Bobby should sing more often because he’s been looking for an excuse to shut down the place anyway.”

Fernanda understood now. Bobby had made a complete fool of Wendy in front of the crowd.

It was beyond awkward. Starting a new job where no one knew her, only to have someone serenade her with a cringe-worthy love song in a packed bar?
