Chapter 265
Chapter 265:
Then, a soft buzzing sound filled the room, and suddenly, it was flooded with light.
The scene that unfolded made Waldo’s heart skip a beat. The room was large, with eight men scattered across the floor, all tied up and moaning in pain. At the far end, sitting poised on a couch, was Fernanda, the same woman he had seen in the bloodied photos. However, she appeared completely unscathed here, without a single mark on her.
Behind her stood a group of shirtless men, each with an imposing build that suggested they could snap bones effortlessly. Beside Fernanda sat a young man with dreadlocks, whose street-smart aura and sharp gaze identified him as a hardened tough.
“Good evening, Mr. Padilla,” Fernanda said smoothly, her voice steady and unnerving. “I’ve been waiting for you.”
Waldo stepped back in shock, desperately tugging at the door handle, but it wouldn’t open no matter how much he pulled. “W-What do you want?” he stuttered, his voice shaking.
“Do I really need to spell it out?” Fernanda responded coldly, nodding towards the groaning men on the floor. “Do these men look familiar?”
Waldo opened his mouth to deny everything, but the man with dreadlocks interrupted him harshly.
“If you want to avoid pain, speak the truth,” Soren stated coldly, his tone both chilling and threatening, hinting at violence well beyond years. “Lie even a little, and you’ll deeply regret it tonight.”
Waldo’s terror consumed him.
The eight motionless figures sprawled across the floor served as a chilling reminder of the grim fate that could await him. If he kept silent, he might face something just as harrowing—or worse.
But even if he told the truth, would it really save him? Waldo couldn’t be so certain.
Fear and confusion swirled within him. His mind felt paralyzed, as if the ability to think clearly had abandoned him entirely.
The relentless tug-of-war—confessing the truth or spinning another lie—gnawed at his sanity, pushing him dangerously close to the edge.

Soren’s patience snapped. Fixing Waldo with a piercing glare, he barked, “Speak!”
Waldo recoiled, trembling.
“It wasn’t me! I didn’t hire anyone to attack!” The words tumbled from his mouth, a desperate and instinctive lie.
Fernanda had anticipated this. Calmly, she reached for a phone resting on the table and dialed a number.
Moments later, Waldo’s phone blared, its sharp ring slicing through the tense silence. His heart lurched violently at the sound.
“Oh, really? Not you? Then how do you explain your voice on the call from this phone just now?” Fernanda’s voice dripped with icy sarcasm. She turned to a towering figure behind her. “Hand me his phone.”
The man, a giant of over six feet with shoulders like a fortress, loomed closer.
Waldo’s knees turned to jelly under the man’s shadow.
The giant extended his hand, his voice booming like thunder. “Phone!”
