Chapter 271
Chapter 271:
“Hey, what do you think you’re doing?” the receptionist called out, her voice sharp. “That’s the exclusive lounge. Why are you sitting there? Go wait outside!”
Normally, the receptionist wouldn’t dare speak so rudely to a guest—Ross Group’s reputation would suffer. But she had already decided Fernanda had hidden motives, not business to conduct, but an attempt to sneak into the VIP lounge. What a joke.
Fernanda sneered at the receptionist’s words. This was the only lounge area in the lobby—why call it “exclusive”? Ignoring her, Fernanda strolled over and sat down as if she belonged.
The receptionist wasn’t about to let it go. She hurried after Fernanda, her tone growing hostile. “Did you not hear what I said?”
Fernanda looked up calmly. “If I were a major shareholder of the company, would I be allowed to sit here?”
The receptionist laughed. Fernanda’s simple outfit—white shirt, denim skirt, sneakers—hardly suggested wealth or status, let alone shareholding. “Now you’re bragging? How is it possible that you’re a Ross Group shareholder?” she scoffed. “Just leave; don’t waste our time.”
Their exchange echoed in the empty lobby until a middle-aged woman entered and approached. “What’s going on here?” she asked.
The receptionist straightened and whispered hurriedly in the woman’s ear, certain that Fernanda would be ejected. Instead, the manager’s expression darkened—not at Fernanda, but at the receptionist’s behavior. “What’s so funny?” she demanded.
The receptionist froze. The manager then turned to Fernanda and offered a polite smile. “Good afternoon, miss. I’m from HR. Could you please tell me your name?”
“Fernanda Morgan,” Fernanda replied, returning the smile.
The manager’s face brightened. With a graceful nod, she extended her hand. “Miss Morgan, it’s a pleasure to meet you. I understand you’ve recently become a shareholder in the company.”
“Hello,” Fernanda said, extending her hand and shaking the manager’s firmly.

The manager smiled warmly. “You haven’t been able to attend the previous board meetings, so we never had the chance to meet. But I’ve seen your photos, and I must say, you’re even more stunning in person.” His tone was gentle, almost soothing, but his words carried undeniable impact.
Nearby, the receptionist froze in disbelief. What had the manager just said? The board meetings? Could Fernanda really be a Ross Group shareholder?
She struggled to process the idea. How could someone so young hold such authority? As a receptionist, she wasn’t privy to high-level personnel changes, and she rarely concerned herself with them. Now, everything felt upside down.
As she watched the manager’s respectful attitude, the realization hit her like a freight train: this young woman was indeed a significant shareholder. Panic clawed at her thoughts. What should she do now? Would she be dismissed for her earlier behavior? Regret washed over her as she twiddled her fingers nervously, unsure how to proceed.
Just as Fernanda prepared to leave with the manager, the receptionist blurted out, “Miss Morgan!”
