Chapter 274
Chapter 274:
Her eyes sparkled with amusement at the thought.
Livid, Joselyn’s breathing came in short, angry bursts. The secretaries exchanged uneasy glances, standing frozen and unsure of what to do.
Fernanda’s gaze shifted to them. “Still standing there? If you keep eavesdropping, it won’t be me getting thrown out—it’ll be you.”
Without another word, the secretaries hurried back to their offices. Fernanda stepped closer to Joselyn and leaned in until their faces were uncomfortably near.
The faint scent of lime wafted from Fernanda’s hair, a fragrance Joselyn found utterly revolting.
“Stop playing tricks,” Fernanda whispered softly into Joselyn’s ear, each word enunciated with chilling clarity. “Or you’ll feel pain a hundred times worse than being separated from your daughter.”
As she straightened, Fernanda’s lips curled into a gentle yet terrifying smile. A shiver ran down Joselyn’s spine, and her scalp prickled with unease.
Had Fernanda uncovered their secret plans?
After Fernanda departed, Ava collapsed into Joselyn’s arms, her tears flowing freely.
“Mom, Fernanda has struck me more than once,” Ava said, her voice muffled by her tears.
Joselyn softly patted Ava’s back, trying to soothe her, though she remained silent, her thoughts consumed by Fernanda’s earlier comments.
Cristian had recently arranged for a message to be delivered, stating that Ava needed to spend five years overseas for self-reflection. During this time, she was not to return, supposedly to prevent any further incidents with Fernanda.
This idea was unbearable for both Hunk and Joselyn.
Ava had been a constant presence in their lives, never having been separated from them for more than a few days, let alone years.
Thus, they created a plan to purchase a plane ticket in Ava’s name without her actually boarding the plane.

They doubted Cristian would make the effort to verify Ava’s departure. Their plan was to relocate her to another city, where Ava’s quality of life would remain unchanged, and being within the country, they could visit her regularly.
In short, they were not prepared to see their beloved daughter suffer.
But the day’s events had shifted Joselyn’s perspective.
Cristian might not have the time to watch if Ava actually left, but Fernanda certainly did. Given her history with Ava, Fernanda would be sure to keep a close eye on the situation.
She had explicitly warned that if Ava did not comply with the directive, their family would face consequences far graver than the anguish of separation.
A shiver of fear ran through Joselyn.
Something about Fernanda made Joselyn believe she was not making empty threats.
Despite being of the same age as Ava, Fernanda’s presence was unnervingly intimidating.
After crying for an extended period, Ava eventually settled, looking up at Joselyn with eyes still brimming with tears. “Mom, Fernanda wouldn’t really harm us, would she?”
