Chapter 317
Chapter 317:
The boy had a dislocated arm, a few abrasions, a head wound, and some scratches on his face. But considering he’d survived, those injuries were nothing.
Fernanda had no major injuries, just some cuts and sprains, which the medical team cleaned and bandaged.
Wrapped in layers of blankets, Fernanda began to gradually regain her strength. The color returned to her pale face, and the bluish hue on her lips faded. It felt as though life had returned to her.
Everyone stared at her intently. Fernanda mustered a smile, her voice raspy. “Stop staring like that; you’re making me embarrassed.”
“You’re still in the mood to joke, huh?” Wendy gently tapped her on the blanket. “You nearly gave me a heart attack.”
“I knew exactly what I was doing. I wouldn’t have gone down if I wasn’t sure it was safe,” Fernanda explained.
She wasn’t the type to act recklessly; she understood that she had to look after her own safety first, so she could be in a position to help others when needed. Fernanda went on, “That boy got lucky. There were a bunch of thorny bushes on the slope that broke his fall. If it weren’t for them, he could’ve ended up dead.”
“Yeah, he’s lucky he ran into you,” Bobby said. “Otherwise, he could’ve frozen to death down there.”
It wasn’t an exaggeration at all. In these freezing mountain conditions, the longer he was exposed, the more dangerous it got.
Sloane chimed in. “Fernanda, was he the one who burned your tent?”
Fernanda nodded. “Yep.”
Sloane was boiling with anger. “I knew it! That boy is pure trouble. Why did you even bother saving him? He doesn’t deserve it! What he did is not a prank; it’s arson! Maybe him falling off that cliff was just karma. I’m so mad, I can’t take it anymore!”
Sloane stood up, practically shaking with fury. “I’m going to march over there and tell that little brat exactly what I think!”

Bonita immediately jumped in. “I’m coming with you.”
Who wouldn’t be furious after hearing that? How could a kid so young be so bold and malicious?
Bobby rubbed his head in frustration, cursing under his breath, “Damn, why did we have to run into this little brat?”
Jeff stayed quiet, agreeing that the boy had definitely crossed the line. So, when Sloane and Bonita stormed off to confront him, he didn’t try to stop them. But the boy’s grandmother looked like a tough one.
“Fernanda, you’re too kind,” Bobby said. “If it were me, I wouldn’t have cared. He came to burn your tent at night, and he got what he deserved!”
Bobby’s words were a bit harsh, but he was just venting. He only said it because he knew the boy was out of danger now. If he had seen the boy fall, he wouldn’t have just stood there either.
“He’s still just a kid. A mistake can be fixed with a little education,” Fernanda said. “I just hope this teaches him to think twice next time.”
