Alex quickly waved his hand. “Oh, no, don’t worry about that. Just dinner with us is enough.”
“Well, how about we go sing karaoke?” Fernanda suggested. “I heard you singing. I’ll take you out tonight.”
“That sounds great!” Alex said, his face lighting up with a smile.
Once they finished their meal, Levi poured himself a bowl of soup and curiously asked, “Fernanda, did Mr. Tucker ask you over today to talk about the beauty pageant coming up?”
Fernanda gave a small nod. “Yes, that’s right.”
Sloane, nibbling on her spoon, chimed in, “I’ve seen my brother organize these beauty pageants. I always thought they were just a fun activity for students, but I never realized how serious they were—especially with Mr. Tucker being fully involved.”
Levi waved his hand dismissively. “In the past, it wasn’t this serious. But things are different this year. It’s a collaborative selection across several universities, with sponsors getting involved. I heard the winner will get chances for big promotions, like starring in an ad for the sponsors, and even a hefty sponsorship fee. Mr. Tucker has his eye on that prize.”
Sloane laughed lightly. “Well, who wouldn’t want some extra cash? Mr. Tucker is probably hoping for more funding to kickstart new projects and events.” She then turned to Fernanda, offering a reassuring smile. “You’ve got this, Fernanda. You’re going to take the crown.”
Her eyes sparkled as she glanced over at Levi. “Do you know who’s sponsoring the event?”
Levi nodded. “Of course. It’s a major name,” he said with confidence. “The Prestige Fashion Group. A huge brand in the fashion world. You’ve heard of it, right?”
Fernanda raised an eyebrow in surprise. “Prestige Fashion Group?”
“Yes, that’s the one,” Levi replied eagerly. “I heard they’re offering more than a million in sponsorship fees this year! If you win, Fernanda, Mr. Tucker will be thrilled!”
Sloane gave a thoughtful nod. “They’re in fashion, so it makes sense for them to sponsor our beauty pageant. It’s smart for them to pick the most beautiful student to showcase their clothes in promotional photos. They get great marketing material, the school gets prize money and sponsorship funds, and the students get to be part of an exciting event. Everyone wins.”

Fernanda’s thoughts drifted to the Turner family, owners of the prestigious Prestige Fashion Group. She thought particularly of the brothers, Vinson and Mayson. Though they shared the same family, their personalities couldn’t have been more different.
It was clear to Fernanda that Mayson, the younger brother, had a soft spot for Erika. If he hadn’t, he never would have agreed to her request.
But since Mayson hadn’t managed things well the last time, Erika ended up with no recognition, and it was likely she had forgotten his gesture by now. Later that evening, Fernanda asked Soren to reserve a private room at Zero Degree and invited Alex to join her for a karaoke session.
“This… this feels like too much,” Alex said, nervously rubbing his hands together. “I thought we’d just find a casual place to sing, but coming to Zero Degree… it’s so pricey.”
Neal smiled and threw an arm around Alex’s shoulder. “Come on, relax. Fernanda invited us, so we should just enjoy ourselves,” he said. “Now that she brought us here, she can afford it. It’s your special day, so let yourself have fun.” At Neal’s reassuring words, Alex finally let go of his tension.
