Chapter 395
Chapter 395:
“Don’t be ridiculous.” Fernanda sneered, rolling her eyes before leaning back and gazing out the window, her voice sharpening. “Jealous? Impossible. Would I be jealous? I don’t even like you. Don’t flatter yourself.”
“Is that so?” Cristian leaned closer, his voice low and resonant near her ear. “You really don’t have feelings for me?”
Fernanda found herself at a loss for words.
Throughout her acquaintance with Cristian, he had always behaved with politeness and decorum. Now, his insistence on a response marked a departure from his usual demeanor, revealing a more assertive, pressing side. Fernanda flicked a glance at Cristian, then quickly looked away.
“If you’re not going to continue driving, I’ll leave by myself,” she said, pressing a button, and the car door swung open.
A gentle breeze blew in, soothing her somewhat.
But Cristian caught her wrist just as she was about to exit.
“Okay, okay, I won’t say further,” Cristian said. “Let me drive you back.” He quickly realized that Fernanda was surprisingly easy to fluster. While she might be fearless in many situations, when it came to her emotions, she was like a delicate kitten—quick to startle and ready to lash out if provoked.
Fernanda attempted to pull her hand away, but Cristian’s hold was unyielding, as if cemented to her.
“If you don’t get back in, we’re stuck here,” Cristian said. “Aren’t you worried about being seen?”
Rendered speechless once again, Fernanda reluctantly withdrew back into the car.
True to his word, Cristian drove her to school in silence, not revisiting their earlier conversation.
Upon reaching Esaham University, Cristian paused the car but didn’t open the door immediately.

“I was too forward earlier,” he said, his rich voice smooth like a fine liquor, subtly captivating. “I care for you deeply, which is why I reacted so hastily when I sensed something was wrong. I’m sorry for that.”
Fernanda was taken aback by his apology, looking at him with a mix of surprise and scrutiny. His eyes met hers, reflecting earnestness and a profound sincerity, filled with true respect.
The anger that had inexplicably filled Fernanda’s heart suddenly disappeared, as if it had never been there. She even questioned whether her earlier sensitivity had been an overreaction.
“I hope you’re not upset. It won’t happen again,” Cristian murmured, his gaze dropping, his voice growing gentler. “Jordyn and I once visited the Coast Restaurant, but it wasn’t just us; others were there too. I remember how excellent the food was. I haven’t taken anyone else there since because I prefer to share special things with special people. That’s why I invited you, and I haven’t brought anyone else.”
His subdued eyes and mellow tone conveyed such genuine remorse that Fernanda found it increasingly difficult to hold onto her annoyance.
