Chapter 496
Chapter 496:
Jordyn tugged his sleeve. “Cristian…”
Cristian released her grip and turned to walk away.
“Stop!” Curran shouted, his voice laced with anger. “What’s with your attitude? We’re offering you a seat out of goodwill, and you don’t appreciate it?”
Cristian paused without turning around. “Haven’t I always acted this way?”
“You!”
“Cristian,” Haley said softly, approaching him. “Please, just hold your tongue. Fernanda even made sure to leave a seat for you next to me. Wouldn’t it be nice for our family to enjoy a meal together?”
Cristian finally turned, his cold gaze fixed on Fernanda.
She had arranged a seat for him?
“Ah, is that so?” Cristian paused before sitting in the designated seat, saying lazily, “Then I’ll take this one.”
Curran snorted coldly, turning his face away.
The brief exchange between grandfather and grandson highlighted the tension in their relationship.
The chatter around the table quickly picked up as everyone pitched in to dispel the previous tension with lively banter.
Yet, it seemed that Cristian and Curran, who had just exchanged a few sharp words, didn’t mind it at all.
Once Cristian took his seat, he dove straight into his drink, while Curran graciously greeted the line of guests who came up to offer congratulations.
Fernanda, meanwhile, was the picture of poise, delicately navigating her meal with neat, thoughtful bites.
Still, she couldn’t shake off the feeling of being observed. A penetrating gaze seemed to cut across the table, fixated on her with an intensity that was hard to ignore.

Raising her eyes to meet the source, she found him—a sharply dressed man in his early thirties, wearing a dark blue pinstripe suit and a light gray tie. His slightly elongated face was framed by bangs that cleverly masked part of his right eyebrow and eye, lending him an air of mystery.
His eyes sparkled with a keen brightness, highlighted by a small mole that danced when he smiled, creating the illusion of a playful dimple.
Earlier, Fernanda had heard him refer to Curran as “Grandpa,” so she assumed he was one of Terence’s sons.
When their gazes locked, he flashed a genuine smile and said, “Hello, Miss Morgan. I’m Marc Reed, Bobby’s cousin.” His introduction was casual, with an easy charm.
“Nice to meet you,” Fernanda responded with a slight smile.
