Chapter 505
Chapter 505:
A beat later, Fernanda worried her words might have sounded too definitive, as if she were pushing him to sever ties with his family. She hastened to add, “If they keep treating you this way, stay away. But if they come around, if they apologize and make things right… then maybe you could give them another chance.”
At this, Cristian couldn’t help but chuckle. His laughter was rich and infectious, his body shaking with genuine mirth.
The streetlights outside cast a glow in his dark eyes, making them twinkle with life and amusement. Fernanda’s stance was so endearing at that moment. Even in her indignation, even as she stood firm on his behalf, she was careful with her words, always precise.
It was simply too charming.
After his laughter subsided, Cristian reached out, tenderly pinched her cheek, and leaned in closer, whispering, “Alright, from now on, I’ll always listen to you.”
Fernanda sat frozen in place.
Why was he so close to her?
His breath grazed her ear, a sensation that felt like an invisible hand teasing her, stirring an uncomfortable tension she hadn’t expected. Caught up in the proximity, Fernanda didn’t immediately grasp the full implication of his words.
He had just told her that, from now on, he would always listen to her.
“I should be going; it’s getting late,” Fernanda said as she stepped back, creating some space between herself and Cristian. “You should head upstairs. I can drive myself home.”
Cristian’s eyes met hers. “Didn’t you drink? Are you planning to drive after that?”
“Of course not! I follow the law!” Fernanda shot back, her tone assured. “I’ll just call for a ride.”

“Alright,” Cristian replied, pulling out his phone. “I’ll arrange a driver to take you home first, then I’ll return.”
Fernanda’s brow furrowed. “It’s unnecessary.”
“I won’t back down,” Cristian stated with unwavering determination.
“Then go ahead,” Fernanda replied, leaning back in her chair with a relaxed demeanor.
Cristian swiftly typed a message and then shut off his phone screen.
Less than ten minutes later, the driver showed up.
When the driver got into the car, he greeted Cristian in a very respectful manner, and Fernanda realized this was no ordinary driver. He had to be employed by Cristian.
“Allow me to introduce my assistant, Amory Robles,” Cristian explained.
Amory started the car, flashing a bright smile through the rearview mirror as he greeted, “Hello.”
Fernanda couldn’t make out Amory’s features clearly, but his youthful voice suggested he was likely around Cristian’s age—or even younger. Given Cristian’s high hiring standards, Fernanda concluded that someone as young as Amory must be exceptionally skilled to be working with him.
